Does anyone who owned a Camry 2007 24v have excessive engine oil consumption between oil interval? I just bought a unit and may have this issue...and found that the same version from US had got this issue and Toyota USA wrote to car owners to bring in to dealers for an oil consumption test and to fix the problem. Toyota USA did not come up on a recall. Is this engine a 2AZ-FE Engine?

are you from america or did you import your car from over there? rolleyes.gif
if no, then your issues while might have the same symptoms might not be caused my the same initial flaws. (that issues were affecting north america cars only)
**not saying your problem is 100% different, just saying, the cause is very likely due to something else.
If yes, wrong forum bro, you might get better answers from a North america forum

This is a UMW Toyota car. Reason I asked is when I take over the car...I check undercarriage, engine and car was also tiptop, saw oil change sticker but forgot to check dip stick....car already oil changed and was running 3000km. Before I go long distance i check dip stick and was shock...oil showed almost empty.

Send back to previous owner service centre (not umw). Replaced new oil from fully synthetic to semi. Now doing an oil consumption test. Car covered 600 km now.....no oil lost.

Just keep my fingers crossed.

That why I am asking Camry car owners.

almost empty but long as still within the 'recomended range' should be fine~

semi and fully synthetic, tbh no dif also.... (just the milage/duration before next change, same like iridiums vs copper plugs) make sure it meets the recommended factory spec oil and youre all good

Bought the car and found this video too late. Now I have tons of worry and see how the test goes. And in years to come.

Camry owners...anyone have this problem? There was a TSB (technical service bulletin) in US and car owners who are aware of this will go get remedies and some dont....and in the video the engine has to be done correct.....hmmmm

You can't escape oil burn issue from this engine. Maybe you can reduce the oil burning by using 40W engine oil.

Service records are important.

A qualified workshop to check undercarriage to see if accident free, steer by driving to bumpy roads....speed to see if transmission gears smooth....exhaust to detect smoke.

Interior and exterior of the car.

Go to internet to check that model to see if any issues.

Worth to pay workshop to check overall.

Its a fault on the previous 1zz-fe 1.8 altis. The piston ring wears prematurely leading to increased oil consumption.

Nothing can be done unless you go for top overhaul

is 2AZ-FE 2.4 engine an I4 or V6? I don't know why suddenly you kept mentioning V6 engine while Threat Starter already said 2.4/2AZ-FE?

High mileage car will consume some oil for breakfast lunch n dinner. It's pretty normal if previous owner change oil less often.

You missed out the dot . , He interpreted as 24 valves, coz by default 6 cylinder x 4 valves per cylinder.

Excessive wear n tear on balance gear and eventually the gear break off. The debris then will stuck on oil pump n finally time for a new engine
