alright, you may think why am i talking about freesync and nvidia when nvidia cant even use freesync...

my real question is, can i use a freesync monitor on nvidia gpus even if i dont utilize the freesync function? the only reason why im getting a freesync monitor instead is because the acer 144hz is cheaper than zowie 144hz.

would there be any side effects if i use a freesync monitor? or can i just disable freesync and only use 144hz anyway?

Yes you can, the freesync is auto off (disable) when you plugin to device not support freesync.

They is no single side effect on it.

I am using a freesync monitor now and I plugin to my laptop using Intel HD 530 as output.

Yes you can, make sure you using Display Port, HDMI 1.4 cannot run at 144Hz. Maximum around 120hz if not wrong.

You had no change to bother the freesync as it is default disable and cannot do anything when you plugin to non freesync GPU.

You are not buying for PUBG or CSGO only right. Even gaming it also not nice.

I cannot stand it when I do internet browsing on TN, actually also not in gaming, I am very particular dislike TN, I had seen very expensive TN, and yes it is better viewing angle already, better color output already, but it got a mug color look, sorry I dunno how to express in word, it look like paste something on top the display and too deep in contrast, just simply not correct. As for cheap TN (below RM 500 one), I dunno that is call monitor, the output is OMG and hurting eye and make people dizzying.

I accept VA, IPS, AMOLED or OLED, just not TN. TN is very very bad quality in my opinion.

At this forum, you will notice a lot people ask you skip TN - https://linustechtips.com/main/forum/42-displays/

Most people once use IPS, can't go back to TN.

I rather take 60hz IPS instead of 144hz TN if money is an issue. This is my opinion and choice but I always ask people go check IPS panel and TN panel and compare side by side and later you will notice how bad TN panel are.

not really, i dont watch movie, at least not anymore on pc. basically buying it for gaming only, i dont play much of other games since i dont really have time. i have used IPS monitor, and TN and IPS is basically heaven and earth in terms of colour, i understand that, but i still prefer the 144hz for csgo, ive owned a 144hz before. all can say is.. future upgrade got enough budget then get 144hz ips. haha now not really looking to buy a ips 144hz because of the price point.

Ah, I used to have the HKC X3 last year, then my graphic card fried up in January, so sold it away to a friend for a cheaper price since he plays CSGO as well, then I continued concentrating on irl stuff. I used to have one of the Dell's ultrasharp monitors when I used to live overseas, never brought it back, still over there. lol

Unfortunately, the HKC would be quite expensive to get one now shipped to Malaysia, so I just thought to get a cheap 144hz and get on with it, and by looking at reviews it seems like that specific Acer model > AOC model in terms of build quality, so that's all that is important to me, colours can be calibrated, sure it may not be IPS quality, but it is enough for me to play FPS games and take advantage of the 144hz, instead of colourful image and no 144hz.

How do you verify the monitor really ultilize 144hz?

Because based on the list of freesync monitors here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FreeSync, some have maximum hz.
