newbie trying out

may I know what is the recommended leverage I should select?

Pick the highest leverage. But start trading with the smallest lot.

That is Martingale. I would stay away from this kind of trader. The problem with Martingale is that it cannot sustain profit for a long time and eventually will burn the account.

1:100 leverage means if my initial capital is 1000, i can buy 100k equivalent of forex. There is a risk of losing 100k even though my initial capital is 1k. Is my understandinh correct?
*
No. You will only lose 1000. As broker will automatically close all your floating trade(s) when your balance reach 0, also called as Margin Call.

plsharevme

i saw on Oanda website it say no minimum trade size. Maybe you should try trade lower than 0.1lot. Just use the lowest lot they allowed first since you are newbie in forex.

paogeh may still has chance to survive that last trades so don't give up yet. I agree with others pointing out that kind of money management is bad for the long run.

use 'limit' orders when you want it to trigger when the current price retrace to your intended price.

use 'stop' orders when you want it to trigger when the current price reach/go further through your intended price.

Or alternatively try high risk trading with low starting capital.
