It's the numeric value for Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim written in Arabic. People mostly in India and Pakistan use it as a substitute for Bismillah.

However, rest assured, it has no real significance- the number 786. It's just a number, some consider it sacred, but most others, like me, don't give it extra importance. It's just a number, nothing else.
