KEMENTERIAN Pengangkutan mendedahkan Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) mengalami kerugian selepas cukai terkumpul berjumlah RM661.34 juta pada 2016.

"ERL telah mengalami kerugian selepas cukai selama enam tahun berturut-turut iaitu dari tahun kewangan 2009 hingga 2014.

"Sehingga tahun 2016 kerugian selepas cukai terkumpul RM661.34 juta," kata timbalan menterinya, Ab Aziz Kaprawi dalam sidang Dewan Rakyat menjawab pertanyaan Ahli Parlimen Bandar Tun Razak, Khalid Ibrahim.

"Semenjak ERL mula beroperasi kadar purata bilangan penumpang 5.4 juta setahun.

– 15 November, 2017.

Try to price the tickets at RM15 or 20 and see the ridership increase many fold.

most retarded pricing for train ticket, just like our new MRT pricing.

single journey 55, discount max also 40-45, for a 30 minute ride, and there's alternative where you can take bus which takes 50 minutes-1hour to reach the same destination, or you can take grab/uber which is WAY WAY CHEAPER if you're travelling more than 1 person. like who the FUCK wants to take that sohai fucking overpriced train you tell me

The monkeys just don't know how to run a proper train service. Look at Japan's bullet train. First bullet train breakeven in 10 years. Only keep blaming others, but never look into themselves.

Malaysia train is for high class people and sohai tourist....

Last time there's a bunch of Hong Kong aunty want naik ERL then i calculate give them if they took taxi straight from hotel its 2 times cheaper.....then i call grab for them

Airport to bukit bintang rather take Uber/Grab ...at least straight to location

from Bukit Bintang to Kelana Jaya still uber/grab cheaper and no need to walk then send you straight to location

nope.
Japan Railway was losing money when they were government owned.
They privatised it and making money now.
The point is, the management should come up with a strategy to make money and be competitive.

why the fuck would i want to take ERL for the price it's charging now when i have to bear the cost to go to KL Sentral first while hauling heavy luggage. Might as well get Grab and it stops right in front of my door at my own convenience. Not to mention the cost saving if travelling >1 person which is is mostly the case.

Just not worth it. They should price it around RM10-15 max.

What to expect with Tun M punya crony project..?
now fallout with Najib, this project will surely be left to rot and die, and then take over by gomen/prasarana end of the day.

Better this way and let it die slowly. The ERL needs to be revamped to stay relevant.

its not just the price hike.
its also options.

now have grab and uber.

for airport, last time i use GrabHitch. RM49 from in front of house to Airport.
Then another RM49 from airport direct to house.

if use KLIA Express?
One way rm55. if buy separately, rm110.
if buy return ticket rm100.
This is per PERSON.
Grabhitch is RM98 only.
Not to mention i need to get to KL Sentral. Money to go there, time to go there.

Most people wont use KLIA Express.

Few ways to solve this problem:
1. Increase price of petrol until RM6/l
2. Increase prices of cars 2-fold.
3. Increase ticket prices 2-fold.
4. Increase price of buses to airport.

More riders, more money.

Klia express has one big advantage....no jam....lol

If your flight is close, it's the most reliable means....

In any case, I think the majority of riders are business travel (paid by company) or tourist (convenient, familiar for those used to train transit in their own country)...

Use ERL twice before the price hike. It is quite good to say the least.

People complaining bout bringing huge ass luggages? Brought one with me, didn't know can check in straight from KL sentral, basically walk around hands free without my luggage in hand. But that was with MAS

Now with price hike.... Bloody expenshit no point might as well take bus from kl sentral easier

the price of the ERL is very weird one. KL sentral straight to KLIAis rm55, while if KL sentralto cyberjaya then cyberjaya to KLIA is half of that price. albeit you'd need to wait another 30min for the train, but if you're not in a rush, no problem

I think korea has world cheapest airport to town rail prices.

Gimhae airport to hauendae beach 1900 won
Seoul airport to seoul station downtown 2500 won

Use ERL twice before the price hike. It is quite good to say the least.

People complaining bout bringing huge ass luggages? Brought one with me, didn't know can check in straight from KL sentral, basically walk around hands free without my luggage in hand. But that was with MAS

Now with price hike.... Bloody expenshit no point might as well take bus from kl sentral easier
*
Wouldn't recommend transitting luggage too many times cause it increases chances of it going missing.

I only use the ERL on business. Otherwise, it is too expensive and inconvenient.

I stay in Subang Jaya so it's only 40 minutes' drive.

If I were to take the ERL, I would have to travel all the way to KL first which takes a significant amount of time more.

They never in red. Mahathir done a good jobs on securing ERL lifespan, you still need to pay for ERL even do not using it. Already include in airport tax. Its untouchable just like Astro. Maxis so on.

Now, SIPP Rail Sdn Bhd — a company linked to the Sultan — is said to have taken a 10% stake in Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL). The move is seen as a way for SIPP Rail to gain a foothold in ERL ahead of the upcoming Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high speed rail (HSR) project, say industry observers

I really hope they lost more after they hiked the prices (and consequently less people used it).

nope.
Japan Railway was losing money when they were government owned.
They privatised it and making money now.
The point is, the management should come up with a strategy to make money and be competitive.

They wont
YTL is expert in ensuring gov foot the losses
Like how Yes4g crappy service and downward subscribers numbers
Gov will still pump money to maintain the base station as it also used for school internet project and not to mention the base station is built in school compound

b4 price hike, i always ride erl from putrajaya to klia2. cheap and super fast.

after price hike, ride moto to klia2, park there for a week (moto, regardless of cc flat rm1 per day), still much cheaper than a return trip putrajaya-klia2 (RM18.40). longest i park at klia2 is 2 weeks...RM14 parking + RM±5 petrol.

but erl is gooding.they should maintain affordable fare. now compete with uber and grab sumore. putrajaya and salak tinggi not many commuters.
