Whoa, hope they have a small screen and a pocket-based Linux for the greatest portable times! biggrin.gif

Uh... maybe it uses an AC adapter too... biggrin.gif

this is pico ITX not pico ATX.

the unit may be small, but the price will be very high. check on the price of nano-itx, this is really for hardcore and huge wallet enthusiasts

A small review about this form factor here and Via's official web site.

QUOTE
In terms of I/O, the list is exceptionally long for such a small footprint: 4 USB 2.0, 1 COM, 1 PS2, 1 LVDS/DVI, 1 multimedia for TV/out, 1 audio for line-out/line-in, mic-in, optical-in, and 7.1 channel output, RJ-45 LAN, VGA . The actual I/O back plate of course can't offer all of that, most are available via pin headers on the board, just like the EPIA NL model. Only the VT6106S 10/100 ethernet and the VGA port are on the I/O plate.

I would bet that it will have at least 8 layers. This leads me to think that the rumored price of US$250 is not terribly realistic. The EPIA N and NL (Nano-ITX) boards cost between USD$320-350, so I'd expect the EPIA PX models, the first Pico-ITX motherboards, to be around the same price, especially upon first release.

normally small MBs will use notebook SODIMM memory, slot should be at the back

there's one with heatsink already, check on akihabara ... http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-13674...%2C+by+VIA.html

anyway the processor should be low-voltage, and small or no heatsink may be required
