Hi, I would like to connect another router(probably a TP Link router, will flash DDWRT) to my primary router ( DIR 615 flashed with DDWRT) . Is it possible? Are any alternative but not too expensive?

This is what i wanted. (Picture). My router is up stairs, my tv and speaker system are down and has Ethernet port (no wifi).

It's possible. Lan is the most stable but if you must do wireless, on the repeater use 5ghz as uplink and 2ghz for clients.

Can I ask the reason behind using 5ghz for the uplink and 2.4ghz for the clients? Thank you in advance.

Uplink will drop to half the wireless bandwidth. Just the way it is.

Thank you for sharing that information. Will take note of that in the case for future bridging setup.

it should work fine with our without ddwrt. just make sure your tplink have wds feature.

no doubt the bandwidth speed reduction around 50%+-.

yes, the tplink does have WDS function without ddwrt, i wanted to flash ddwrt because the primary router as ddwrt. The default tm unifi firmware was a shit so i flashed ddwrt.

ASUS Lyra for RM2K? hmmm...

if you gonna spend few hundreds for wireless bridging, better get contractor to pull cat5/cat6 cable..

Hi TS,
Get a TP-Link WRT1043ND (2nd hand one will do the trick). Then flash it with Gargoyle router firmware. Configure it as bridge to primary router.

I been using this wifi bridge setup for many years to link-up 2 desktops in my study room to main router in living room.

download firmware from here : https://www.gargoyle-router.com

Let me know if you need more helps.

Thines11, yes, possible. I'm using a wireless bridge from my house to my neighbours house.

It's something like this:

UniFi30#1 ------ RB2011(my router) ------ hAP Lite ---{wifi}--- Asus RT-N2D1(Neighbour) ------ UniFi30#2

More info here: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=83909578

Though I'm doing it for a different reason, the principles are the same.

It's OK, maybe half the time, I'll get stable and consistent 30mbps to my neighbour. So Speedtest or torrents at a nice 60mbps. However, because the wifi link is 2.4Ghz, on bad days, it goes down to 10 sometimes even 5mbps with a ton of packet loss most likely due to interference from somewhere. It's hard to say.

That was months ago, now we're both on 50mbps but I haven't had time to do speed tests.
