Hi forumers.. The condo that i bought just obtained CCC recently and key released will start from mid of Nov onwards..

This is my first new first hand home. So i believe i need to do some inspection and claim whatever defects if got with developer.. after that my first plan is to install light, fan and aircond.

This condo do not come with air cond piping.. but air cond point is ready.

i wish to understand the type of air cond i need in term of horsepower for the size of my house.. i not really know how to calculate the size/BU.. so i attached the layout screenshot for u guys as a reference.. my initial thought is to install 2HP inverter air cond in living room and 1HP inverter in master room.. ceiling in each bedroom and 1 in living room (4 fans).. lighting i might just choose for surface LED ceiling light (depending on each lighting point). want to keep cost lower if possible..

10k+- for all of these it isnt sufficient just for light, fans & 2 aircond..

existing ready ceiling lighting point - 14
fan point - 4
13A - 14
4 air cond points
2 water heater points

For living room, normal 2hp aircond will be sufficient as you would most likely not turn it on for long periods. Compressor installed at balcony.

For your master, 1.5hp inverter should be alright. This should be the one used most often. So best you get a better brand.

For the other 2 rooms, will the aircond be used for long periods? If it is just guest room etc, just install normal aircond would do. York aircond selling at Lazada quite cheap. 1hp about 599-699.

Water heater, can get panasonic with pump about 300+ from lazada/11street.

Fans, u can get panasonic bayu 4 or 5 from lazada / 11street. RM200+.

Lighting, you can check out hong tatt electrical or 100valuelighting on facebook. Prices are cheap. I bought 24 watt 3 colour surface led for only 75. Small and medium room 1 is sufficient. Masterbedroom 2. 12w downlight for only 9.90. This is use for my living room, install plaster ceiling. T8 led only 5.90/6.90 for yard.

10k more than enough if you follow the above recommendations. cool2.gif

It depends on your priorities and usage for the air-cond in the living room. It is not so much about the cost of the air-cond unit but the electricity bills that you will be paying monthly when the air-cond is in use. Air-cond is one of the electrical appliances that contribute to high bills if used at prolonged periods.

For the living room, if your intention is to use it for long periods but want to save electricity, you may consider 1.5hp if the area that you want to keep cool is the living area near the balcony where the sofa and TV is. The cold air will just blow directly to that area keeping it cool. The area further to the back near the pantry will not be as cold but it will be cooler than normal room temperature. Combined with the ceiling fans you should be fine. Unless you want to keep the whole unit cold then a 2hp or higher will be more suitable. Even if you can afford the more expensive 2hp or 2.5hp air-cond unit, bear in mind that this is just a short-term expenditure. The long-term is more important as you will be paying the bills. 1.5hp is still not too bad but 2hp and above takes a toll on the electricity bills especially when you use it frequently.

For the bedrooms including the master bedroom, 1hp is sufficient judging from the size of it. You can use the ceiling fan to keep the cool air circulating and the combined air-cond+ceiling fan usually works well if the air is not circulating fast enough due to the limited fan speed of the air-cond. The ceiling fan with its larger and longer blades will help move the air quicker so you can feel the cold air blowing everywhere in the room.

thanks for ideas..

Hmm.. Current plan is trying to get 4 fans/5fans (1 additional fan for dining area (with extra pull fan point)). (RM1k~1.2k)
Lighting (looking forward to surface mounted LED for all bedroom, toilets, balcony, foyer, washing machine area).. Dining (pendant light), living room and kitchen might go for track lighting)
(try to keep my cost less than 2k) - total 3k for fans + lighting..

Heater i can find about rm400 for latest model of Panasonic.. Will testing the water output first from normal shower before go for JET PUMP series.. (opt for Copper internal instead of cheaper material like plastic/PVC)

Air cond will only focus on living room & master bedroom only.. bedroom2 & 3 will only use fan cause only 1 people stay..

erm thanks for recommendation, i also thinking to get 1HP for master bedroom only.. I do not need super cold temperature but just need slightly colder than normal temperature only.. normally my usage will be 1 hour open for sleeping with timer.. living room might need turn on longer due to friends & family..

im looking on Panasonic inverter series.. 1HP is 1700 and 2HP is 3400.. Which will cost me rm5.1k with units.. plus installation and piping, estimated 700.. which cost nearly 6k.. Hmm still considering..

inverter is lower cost for electricity right in long run? Normal 1HP inverter will be stated about 1.4k kW while non inverter normally 2.2k~2.5k kW.. about 30% savings..

Yes, inverter will save some cost when it is being run on longer periods. Go check out the inverter thread to see how an inverter works, then you will have a better idea. If it is for short periods, like u said, 1 hour a night only, the additional cost for buying inverter aircond is not justified and by the way, inverter airconds could be more prone to breakdowns due to the electronics for the outdoor unit.

I am speaking from experience. My daikin inverter rosak due to the electronic board for outdoor unit. Good thing still under warranty, about to expire.

And for air cond, please do not buy an undersized one. I previously thought 1hp enough for my master, but it is not. End up, compressor keeps running as it cant achieve the set temp. Get at least 1.5hp for a master bedroom of about 300-400 sqft.

will check the size of my master room and calculate the BU and find the suitable specs of air cond.. so far i'm not so good in view the size in photo.. will collect key next Wed and i will go and measure it..

thanks.. Some small room can install 1hp non-inverter since just about rm700 per unit.. plus installation then maybe 1k per unit..
