55k....P2 really beat all expectations this round.

Well except the "based on IM/Auris" whistling.gif
*
Considering the existing empty Myvi top spec is selling at RM54k, it really beats expectations. Pity those who just bought the existing version.

QUOTE(junsheng @ Nov 8 2017, 12:46 PM)
tin milo or no more tin milo?
it didn't talk abt body design n integration safety design
*
Waiting for crash test report. In any case, even if it is Milo tin, at least this Milo tin does not fly so easily given the ESP across all range.

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Nov 8 2017, 12:48 PM)
it's funny most malaysian, when ppl use all analog, then say outdated, when put in technology, say wat how much it cost to replace bla bla bullshit. Please la, grow up from third world country .
*
I cannot agree more rclxms.gif
These people should be worried about the ESP in Myvi... don't know it will interfere and cause accidents? Or curtain airbags that obscure the vision when they deploy for no reason? Oh, the LED headlamps must go because they spoil easily and cost a lot to replace....halogen bulbs are better as they have been in use for decades with no problems and the halogen bulbs are cheap to replace.

QUOTE(rooney723 @ Nov 8 2017, 02:13 PM)
actualy its a gud thing they put 4 speed auto into this myvi, bcos imagine if they put cvt or 5/6 spees auto into it and priced at 45-55k, nobody will buy other b segment cars dy, everyone will buy myvi instead
*
And people would start to wonder if the CVT is as crappy as you know what.

QUOTE(perrrhhh @ Nov 8 2017, 02:17 PM)
Sudah upgrade safety feature, pertikai later bang belakang

So malaysian
*
This is so true. Maybe these people don't jam brake even in an emergency because they are worried of being hit by the car behind them.

QUOTE(stormcloud @ Nov 8 2017, 02:55 PM)
Perodua did a Pearl Harbor on Proton as pre-emptive strike.
How will Proton respond?  smile.gif

P.S. All those bling features would depreciate if steel used for roll cage structure is still tin milo imo.
*
If existing Myvi sells like hot cakes without ESP, isn't it better to have ESP even if it is tin milo?

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Nov 8 2017, 03:07 PM)
no DRL... DRL is already a requirement in most country, give u better visibility even during day light to diff a car and environment. susah include drl ka? stupid perodua
*
Nah, detractors will say DRLs costs money to replace the bulbs.

I suppose HM has to include Honda Sensing in their line-ups from now on, including in the Jazz. Once people realise how useful the ASA in the Myvi, it will be gg for Jazz otherwise.

QUOTE(stormcloud @ Nov 8 2017, 08:49 PM)
Yes, it's definitely better if it's Myvi -> Myvi no question, plus folks tend to quote fuel efficiency when buying P2 cars.
But if you look at Iriz -> Myvi, those features aren't as appealing, esp combined with the HPF steel used in Iriz's structure.
Another thing, ESP/ESC does not help with side/frontal collisions, where none of it is the driver's fault.

I guess the point of my original comment was to highlight the stiff competition that is coming from P2. Good news for consumer.
Proton dropped the ball, way I see it, its inability to align with consumer demand and preferences. They have an advantage with the HPF steel but didn't fully capitalize on it and they totally skipped on fuel efficient cars.
If P2 incoporate HPF steel into their lineup, good bye Proton. shakehead.gif That's why I was curious on the new Myvi's technical spec for steel used.
*
Fully agree with you on the HPF steel and the limitation of ESP.

However, I don't think the new Myvi's would-be buyers are those who would choose Iriz because of HPF. They might even have continued buying the Myvi SE, or Axia, if they are looking for a new car to replace their ageing small car. I'll hazard a guess the majority of existing Myvi owners will choose the new Myvi as their next car.

Do not ignore the fact that people's perception of the Iriz and Persona in terms of reliability and appeal is rather poor, viz Myvi. The target buyers place a lot of importance on reliability (and hence lower downtime).

Hence, the presence of ESP and 4 airbags in the new Myvi is still a big leap in terms of safety.

fuel economy as well, something proton wasn't particularly good at
*
Yes, how could I leave that out. And the clutch-based CVT. And the left signal stalk is not a crowd favourite either.

Yep. This .... I absolutely hated this and still hate it.  vmad.gif
Proton in all it's zealousness copied continental design. Continental cars are right-hand drive, it made complete sense.
Malaysia is left-hand drive. The original Japanese positioning scheme worked perfectly and it was very intuitive.

Someone ought to give Proton interior designers a knock on their head for not seeing this issue.
*
This is also my dislike. When it rains, lagi kelam kabut. We old fags learned driving in a manual car where the left hand seldom left the gear knob.

Selling in Europe should not come at our expense. Japanese cars sold in RHD countries (except perhaps Subaru) don't have their signal stalk on the left, but once this model is exported, they will shift the signal stalk to the left.

Perodua ady announced they are concentrating on EEV for now. To further improve the fuel economy of their cars.

Wonder how long it takes before people start to abuse/mod the ASA, now that this technology is within the reach of the masses.

Actually i am realy excited with myvi. But tkday i started to worry hows the handling like? Hows the steering will be like? Even if the spec - price is that good, i cannot tahan kf the handlkng is like the current myvi
*
As long as we don't expect Iriz-like handling, we should be able to accept it. It's supposed to be a compact city car meant for going to the wet market.

Even now, when you throw a stone, chances are you will hit a Myvi, and the stone ricochets to hit another Myvi.

Wonder whether the waiting period will stretch for months, just like when Wira was launched.

QUOTE(seather @ Nov 10 2017, 08:19 AM)
some of these "new" features have been standard for quite sometime already for more upmarket brands..

previously, a serious bang means some cheap restoration job and a fresh coat of paint.

but with all the sensors installed around, a bang in the wrong place means replacing those sensors...

Malaysians need to understand what the new ownership cost is with all these ding dongs...
unless u don mind having a car with flashing red warnings all the time..

so you grow up... LOL
*
Correction: previously a serious bang means death or serious injury.
But with all the sensors installed, a bang could have been avoided, and the additional airbags can shield you.

Let's hope more bread n butter cars will be equipped with more safety features. The ASA is a good start to apply pressure on other car manufacturers, without govt intervention (like ESP made compulsory in 2018).
