They have the Rhinoshield mod case, which is a bumper but can be used as a full case if add on the backplate.
I bought that as my protective case, a slimmer transparent case, a canvas type case which matches my ipad case and a silicon case exactly like Apple's silicon case.

Phone not here yet but already have 4 cases otw lol  sweat.gif

I am afraid the plastic back mat scratch the glass if there is a sand in between. So i go for bumper.

If you check your Model code, There is a MY for Malaysia, SG For Singapore and HK for Hong Kong and so on and so forth at the end of your model number. For example MH4D2MY/A
*
probably he is talking about the model number eg A1901?

in this case 7+ HK model is different from MY and SG model number
HK A1661
MY SG A1784

I think the chances are higher for scratch if there is no plastic at the back to protect the glass though. Bumper only protects the side and corners, the lip part only protects against flat surfaces but if you drop in on the road, or elsewhere with small stones, sand, etc. the bumper is useless. Replacing the back glass is a lot more expensive than replacing the front screen/glass.

personal experience, i bought 2 units of iphone 7+ from HK, 1 of it faulty camera... i did brought to machines for a claim, they replied me same email 1 hour after i passed to them, i directly called up apple, logged a support case with the ticket #, i passed the ticket # to machines, and they processed the claim without any issues smile.gif

i did clarify with apple support, warranty is based on region according to them, msia sg hk aussie, all can claim cos same region...

The claim Sg set is true. Because I claimed one Iphone 6 before. But like I mentioned, it is based on Good will basis. That is what Mac City staff told me.

The model code is just to show how to check which country the phone originated from.

Haha. Typical claim warranty from machines case. Did they even accused u mod the phone hence cannot claim? They will do
Anything in their power to prevent u from claiming unless Apple overwrites their “diagnostic”. They are “resellers”, hence they expertise in selling, not servicing.
Welcome to the club man. Let’s continue to hope official Apple store opens in Malaysia.

I think thats ppl personal experience, not necessary to share to 3rd parties who dont have direct/interest involvement.

It has always been a known fact among Iphone owners that there is NO INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY on iphones. I have made a claim with a SG unit of Iphone 6 with Mac City before and the staff at Mac City told me that they are doing this on a good will basis only and also provided my unit was a Singapore Appstore unit. If it was a Sg Telco unit, they wouldnt be able to help me.

I don't know how it was during iPhone 6. but definitely warranty for iPhone SG is covered by our local authorised service center for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

even if u call apple careline, and tell them can u claim warranty for set purchased from US (for eg.) they only ask for model code A1778 to check if it's supported for local warranty claims.

Correct. When I claimed the Sg set Iphone 6 with Mac City, the staff even told me that my claim will be processed by their Apple Store SG as my set is from them. So they will just help me ship the phone back to them.

I would not suggest anyone take the risk of buying an overseas set unless it is absolutely necessary. Safest would be to buy Malaysian sets as warranty could be easily sorted out. Resale value of used My units also will fetch better prices. nod.gif Personally the furthest I would go for would be only Sg sets.

Actually, if you buy it on a normal contract, it's far cheaper. Also, maxis allows you to do up to 24 months EPP with 0% interest and no surcharge with certain credit cards.

i think the policy changes. they don't ask for the lengthy model number that shows MY/A like last time.. Now all they asked is for the short model number to verify if we can send that specific iPhone here.

U can try call apple careline now @ 1800803638

This is my 1st time in my 10th iPhone purchased since 2007 other than iPhone 2G I got overseas unit. I got 2 units from SG and yes I did my research well before doing so as I also worry about warranty.

I did a chat with Apple guys online and had a copy email of our chat that set from HK, SG, US can be claimed in our local service center so long it is not void warranty like open unit, refurbished unit, this is same as the unit we purchased in Malaysia. What I remember many years back this may not be possible, overseas unit before 6 may not be entertained. But I did also call Apple twice that if I can claim overseas unit, the answer is YES so long the country allows it since Apple never stop ppl from claiming international warranty but just a bureaucracy thing.

Since Malaysia going to have iPhone X on 24th, of course getting Malaysia set will always be better choice.

Every time I sell my iPhone, I am asked if it is local set.

For you all want to have it on 1st day, do some research how to be faster than the rest to get it ordered online at midnight.
