You never played fallout, and you hate Oblivion. Fallout 3 is Oblivion with guns set in a superficial Fallout setting. Isn't that obvious enough? Skip this game.

Do yourself a favor and go play Fallout and Fallout 2. Yes the graphic is very 90-era. But in terms of gameplay they are still way better than most so call 'RPG' game this day.

EDIT: People are saying the game is indeed sucks and not a true-Fallout game .

for me it's quite fun biggrin.gif and VATS is somehow an enhancement when killing people. but the manual shooting needs to be improved. well at least more responsive.
i'm still searching for uber weapons like the one in FO2. the alien gun and the turbo plasma rifle.

VATS is basically bullet time coated with SPECIAL.
If Bethesda wants to make a first person shooter, they can.
If Bethesda wants to make a turn-based combat game, they can.
Instead, what we have seen is a hybrid combat system which cannot appeal both 2 types of gamers.

EDIT: Don't bother playing as a charismatic character. Charisma is useless in FO3 because of the shitty dialog.

Finished the game with 100 Speach. Wasn't that bad. And what's with all the hate going around this thread? People have rights to voice out their impression of this game, and just become some of them actually LIKE this game they don't have to get flamed or receive a nasty comment about how sucky Fallout 3 is.

Seriously, the hate going around here is massive. If you're disappointed in it you don't have to put it in such a bad way that'll leave a bad impression of would-be F3 players.

Previews got 10/10, well most of them. But reviews got 7-8/10. Fans reviews, ha! 1/10

Its very obvious that you are still judging this game from its prequels, and nobody said that this game sucks other than the typical fanboy who cannot accept the change of the gameplay..... hmm.gif

out of 1708 votes, fallout 3 received and average score of 9.2 from gamespot and out of 258 votes, fallout received an average of 8.3 score from the user votes of metacritic.

This clearly show that you people are truly biased in reviewing and calling fallout 3 a bad game just because you don't like the game. I also believe this thread is for healthy discussion for the game and not for flaming the game for its weaknesses(even the old fallout's weren't perfect), if you don't like the game, keep it for yourself and refrain from calling the game a piece of junk.

Btw mods are already out to fix this game and you can find some some mods at http://www.fallout3nexus.com/ smile.gif

The endings SUCK...damn, what were they thinking? The narrative by Ron Pearlman was so poorly written it made me wonder whether it was hastily pasted to the game moments before it came out. We go through all the trouble to finish this game and we get rewarded with 3 minutes of nonsense (frankly, I think even Ron Pearlman had no clue as to what he was narrating hence the unenthusiastic tone)

Not even a Fallout 3 fanboy can deny that!!

Ok...played it on my friend's PS3. The setting is there, the mood is there, but the mechanics are not quite there. I loved Fallout 1 & 2 as much as I loved Planescape Torment, which is to say, a hell lot. Even Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights could not forged a bond like those games did.

So, this is my perception of Fallout 3: It is a great game...for casual gamers. It is definitely not a classic like Fallout 2. There are many arguments by both hardcore Fallout fans vs Oblivion fans, and I would say they are all spot on. So, you just need to know which side of the fence you are before getting the game. Like Fallout? Maybe you should just get this game for continuity (like BoS). Like Oblivion? Should get this game.

You shouldn't impose your standards on others, I believe. We have valid concerns about this game and we're coming from the views of an old fallout fan, and from the old school RPG era where writing and story is actually more important than combat and graphics. Maybe you have different ideas of what make a good game (e.g. i can blow heads? I roxxx!!!), but that doesn't mean we can't give criticism where criticism is due right?

Saying good things about a bad game is just as biased you know. wink.gif

And besides, you probably still think fallout fanboys want "low resolution isometric turn base fallout 3". You're definately beating a dead horse over there. Maybe you should educate yourself as to the real reason why old fans didn't like Beth's take? Stop beating the strawman my friend.

My god you're my savior, I thought the product was going to be pushed back to 13th. But it cost RM349 T_T. So darn expensive. I thought it's going to be only around RM250. Guess I'll just have to go with the normal one.

Pipboy clock only available in the survival edition which costs wayyy much more than the CE. I think it's only available in the US.

Ya...RM349 is expensive. I'm not going to fork that much out for this. If it's around RM220-RM250, maybe i can still consider it.... blush.gif

I just don't find your criticism very constructive, when people go around calling a fallout 3 a "Fallout 3's the retarded adopted kid in the family." and stuff like "Exactly. Oblivion's for ADHD + ADD kids. Fallout's for real men. biggrin.gif"
It just doesn't seem very constructive.

I do like to ask though, have you purchased the game?

Probably I have overstayed my presence in the tweakguides forum way too long though smile.gif
