jailbreak or rooted andoridbox is not a necessity.
maybe becos of old practices, people tend to think u can do magic by rooting a box.
rooting a box voids warranty, really not much use except for special unique changes.
unrooted boxes work fine, no need root; "it will work after u root/unroot it" is a myth.
some apps work on box A but not on box B - that is usually due to app-firmware compatibility.
nothing to do with rooting or jailbreaking.
more impt to know what and which apps to use.

what box to buy will depend on what u want to do with it.
RM300 will get u a box but will be average box.
some of them will give u the similar nightmares u had before.
better boxes are price rm600-700, some >rm1k.
