Actually came across this thread in Yahoo! Answers couple of months back, and really saw some interesting feedback. Some say it's tribal, sense of belonging, etc. What do you guys think?

For me, it's basically wearing my support for my club on my sleeve. And I'm proud of that! However, there must be a limit lah on where you should or could wear it to...came across some ppl sporting jerseys at weddings, for crying out loud! that's just too much lah...

Yeah, I do wear them casually when going out.

One thing about jerseys is that they are really comfortable and cool to wear in Malaysia's hot and sunny afternoons.

I wear my kit around because I'm proud to show my allegiance. I make it more of a point to wear it the day after a defeat, probably in defiance. I want to show that my support is unconditional and I won't go hiding my face shamefully in defeat. I dare to say that most fans won't do the same. We stick by our clubs through the good times but especially the bad ones. It's the same reason I don't understand people who turn of the television or leave the stadium before the game is over. A few Liverpool fans were guilty of doing the same in Istanbul. We are fans and as fans, we stay till the end.

I got Carragher emblazoned on my kit because I still feel that many Liverpool fans don't appreciate him. Most obviously have "Gerrard" on theirs for even more obvious reasons. It's like I read somewhere, "If Steven Gerrard is the heart of Liverpool Football Club, then Jamie Carragher is it's soul". Both are at least of equal importance.

A little OT but I have to mention this. Speaking of weddings, a girl friend of mine just got married and she used lyrics from "You'll Never Walk Alone" while reciting her wedding vows. I'm so touched, I'm going to cry now biggrin.gif Wait a minute, I'm not the husband tongue.gif

I don't wear my jersey casually. I only wear it when I go watch the game. I would wear a trainer casually though.

Of course.............. I will. What's the point having a crazy huge jersey collection? Besides, the reason why is because I sweat a lot. Wearing jersey makes it feel more comfortable when I sweat, compared to wearing my office attire or other clothes. Besides, to show my alliance to which club and team I love and support.

I wore my United jersey while attending my friend's wedding. No big deal.. my mates laughed at it when I showed my jerseys's club badge to them.

you mean kenduri style? i think that is still acceptable lah as kenduri is meant to be casual anyway, with the exception of the bride and groom.

i saw this guy wearing at those restaurant/hotel ballroom types wedding EVEN though when the invitation card said formal. maybe he thought that his jersey was formal enough lah...

and FYI, he was wearing the England Home shirt (the reversible one).

Well for kenduri also, you should wear a decent formal attire la. Wear a baju batik or something. Besides, it was considered a very 'formal' kenduri because my friend is a daughter of a rich bloke staying at Shah Alam, so most visitors were like datuks and tan sri... For me, to hell with that. I was the single sad guy who's proudly wearing the United home jersey with ROONEY 8 on it at the kenduri. Who cares... besides later that night there's a live EPL match involving United. My wife is a bit pissed but she doesn't bother that much afterwards..

Even if I travel, in my bag I carry 90% United or England jerseys. I only don't wear jerseys when sleeping. For 3 days trip, I carry 4 jerseys. One for each day and one for spare. I don't mind, when I go back I love to wash them.. then iron them and then hang them proudly until my wife nags about it. Then I will keep it in my closet.

I once took a challenge by my mate. I wore the Schmeichel goalkeeper kit I have in my crazy collection and then wore a goalkeeper pants and socks. Weared some sports shoes went to Ipoh Parade. Everyone at Ipoh Parade was looking at me. My mates all laughed like crazy afterwards. Those crazy days when I used to stay in Ipoh.. Hmmm...

I have a United shorts that match one of my united jerseys. You can see in my collections here: http://christopherd4965-scam.blogspot.com/...rsey.html#links

In fact I'm in process of buying 2 United shorts (the blue one for the now third kit and the white one used during the black away and white third).

Mind you, both these shorts are player version shorts. Code 7 Nike products, the same one worn by the players actually in matches....

I love to wear them in pair with the correct jersey and go out. But normally I do that when I play futsal and I'm not the goalie. I normally play in goal.
