Hi, I planning to hack a wall with a DB box, so DB box will be relocated to new wall.
My question, is it safe for long term wise.. since existing cable (light, plugs etc) will be join and extend to relocated DB box at new wall.

I was asking advice from wireman, he said safe and he will join using cable links. What is cable links and does it good for long run?

Thanks.

cable link is like a steel clip will clamp your wire (like cylinder)
if properly done should be ok
after that make sure they use the insulation tape (not normal black tape) this one is thicker like those foam doubletape but for electrical use one. they should know i guess

any cable joint is not good, unless really no choice.

take the opportunity to re-wire? change from ring circuit to radial, and add the important rcd if its not there yet.

All Depending the current flow, workmanship and material used.

Is your contractor using good crimping & connectors material and tools? There are good crimps & Connectors and workmanship is important. Those using the simple screw time, i find it useless especially in high current usages. The good ones are like butt connectors from 3M, AMP, and many others. But all these are costly to your contractor, one connector can cost RM1-2 each.

Solder is easier (in my personal opinion), proper prepare the wires, solder it, double heat shrink wrap. done deal.

You want relocate DB is better to redo all wiring. Something you might regret when having short circuit
