(yet, might be user issue which they do not know how the user use the phone). i was like, WTF, i do nothing beside using the phone. some more i just change the entire screen for 4 days. they ignore my request and told me complaint to samsung HQ. do you all having the same issue. please highlight to me. |

Just ended my one-month stint with my Note 8. Some thoughts:-
- This was by far the best Samsung device I have ever used, albeit for a very short period. While S8+ was a very, very good phone (I used it prior to changing to the Note 8), the Note 8 is not just a S8+ with a S-pen. The additional 2GB RAM makes everything stutter less and everything was buttery smooth. That with the very good dual lens camera makes the Note 8 a worthy upgrade from the S8+ for the RM300 difference in RRP. The difference in the street price is harder to justify though. - Although the battery size is slightly smaller than the S8+, the SOT and standby time is pretty similar to the S8+. The infamous Android “battery leak” is less apparent with Android 7.1 and it’s a huge difference from the days of the Note 3 (my last Samsung device that lasted for more than a year). I still had issues every now and then like the battery draining more than 10% at night with max power saving mode on and device being idle through the night, but a device restart fixes the issue. - I had this problem with the S8 and the S8+, and it carried over to the Note 8. Sometimes my WhatsApp message notifications would be delayed till I on the app. Even with all the tweaks for battery optimization and app permissions that I managed to Google, the issue persists every now and then. It got me into some awkward situations with some colleagues and clients. (Between the S8 and S8+, I used the HTC U11 and did not face this issue) - The S-Pen is great. Love the text conversion and translation features. If you need to have a device with a stylus, the Note 8 it is (no idea on the Note FE, but I’d imagine it’s equally as good?). - The Note 8 fully deserves its top scores in dxomark. The camera is excellent. The interface could be a little more simplified but as far as a phone camera goes, this one is right up there with the best. - I guess I was fortunate but my unit had no defects, not even the infamous light leak. Build quality is very good. - Did not try the bundled AKG earphones but if it was similar to the S8, then I won’t be missing out. The U11’s is far superior. All in all, the Note 8 is an excellent device but the retail price of RM 3,999 is hard to swallow considering how fast the value drops. That said, those that bought it with the famous (or infamous, depending on how you see it) Qoo10 coupon should be happy - it’s a great buy! |

QUOTE(vhs1 @ Nov 3 2017, 01:29 AM) Well, firstly, I think the old Samsung TouchWiz UI before the S6/S6 Edge was full of bloatware and had tendency to lag over time no matter how much RAM you put in the phones. That was why I stopped using Samsung after Note 3. Then I tried the S6 for a while and the Note 5 thereafter, and it was much better and less frustrating. The newer ones especially on the S8/S8+ and even the Note 8 are even smoother. That said, I fully understand your frustration with the Mobo, as I had experienced the same with both my Tab S2 and Note 5, which luckily were both under warranty when it happened. When I was at the Samsung Service Center getting my devices sorted out, I noticed a number of owners there trying to get their Mobo issues sorted out as well, so it could be a design flaw. Anyways, since you cancelled your booking for the FE, what device have you decided to go with next? This post has been edited by attw: Nov 3 2017, 08:50 AM |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Thanks for sharing your experience! Yeah, there are plenty of awesome mid-range devices out there these days like the Honor 8 Pro and it’s really unnecessary to buy a flagship phone unless you really want it. I will likely buy and try Samsung again but definitely not at the Recommended Retail Prices, they tend to drop too much too soon. Cheers! This post has been edited by attw: Nov 3 2017, 06:58 PM |

QUOTE(fuzzy007 @ Nov 4 2017, 12:28 PM) notice there is some bug in note 8 where after using for an amount of time, the apps start getting laggy when press back button, need to wait for few seconds to respond I didn’t face lags but would face abnormal battery drain even in max power saving mode sometimes. But like you said, a restart magically solved the issue.it will become normal once restart the phone |

QUOTE(vhs1 @ Nov 6 2017, 01:36 AM) I only have one grouse. Why took away IR ? The last phone I had with an IR was the Note 3, and I hardly used it anyway It's just a tiny dot on the top side. If our remotes suddenly not bat power. The phone with IR can still get things done until battery replacement. |
