1.) Check if cable is faulty.
2.) Is firewire port ok? Meaning... driver is installed.
3.) Try capturing with other softwares.
4.) Try DVCam on other PC.

5.) What format are you trying to capture? avi.....mpeg..1/2/4....?

try your tape in another DV cam see how is it.... i not sure but i using panasonic dv cam can work on it... make sure the cable is okie......

i have tried to play the tape that was recorded by my panasonic digicam using a sony dv cam..and it was written there different format..so i cant transfer also..my sony digicam works fine, and i can transfer easily

i have bought 2 pci firewire connector and 2 cables, so i dont think its the problem with the firewire..
i have checked in google for my cam series, and lots of people complaining about transfering the video to computer..i dont know what to do

any other way?? is there any decoder that can transfer to my pc??

Okay... Try this:
Play the tape from NV-DS65 and connect the video cable to your tv. Set your tv to view NTSC mode. Dont put at AUTO or PAL. If picture plays fine then set tv to view PAL mode. There should be a difference. One is clear and the other is not. If the NTSC setting is clear then your camera is most likely a NTSC camera.
Try this:-
1. Set your capture software to NTSC and capture it. If you cant then use the software that allows the setting.

One of my customer gave me a tape to edit and I could not capture using several cameras. The reason was, it was recorded in NTSC mode. When you play your tape on other camera, if it says "different format" then I think it is on NTSC format.

If the  PAL setting is clear then .......something is wrong somewhere!
The only thing I can suggest is bring the camera and the tape to me and let me see what I can do.

I dont know if there is a decoder to do that but if your camera is an NTSC model then you would need a system converter. Expensive. Usually video people only has it.

By the way where are located and how long is the recording on the tape?
What software are you using to capture and what format?

I've searched through all the services and I don't see anything that is related whatsoever (or will cause) the firewire to not function ... I just don't see what's stopping the detection of the DV cam

Just to confirm that if you set your mode to Playback / Edit mode on the videocamera ?
if firewire is setup correctly u should be able to control most videocams from the computer directly, no need any other softwares

are u using Win XP? Did u install the correct driver for your camcorder? I have encounter the same problem like u have last time, but after i search through website and found a correct driver and finally my miniDV camcorder can transfer the video to my pc using windows movie maker. Bear in mind, u must capture the video using software, it won't appear as removable drive. BTW, i'm using Sony HC96E Mini DV camcorder

I m using Panasonic NV-GS70. No problem with the connection of my two laptop. Just install the driver first than connect the DV cam. My brother have the Panasonic NV-GS65. Never heard him complain about the connection also.

I don't no what is the different or is it same with this two model. I remember he borrow the cd driver from me and install. The cd driver is come with my DVcam when I purchase. Any video editing software will do as long as your pc can detect the dv cam. I m using adobe premiere, dv gate plus and vaio edit component to transfer the footage.

I don't remember much. It is quite long time since I install the driver. Maybe there is no reaction. Did you unable the firewire connection in the connection --> show all connection? Have you try it on another pc? My two laptop and a pc have no problem with the setup. I just follow the procedure.
