I'm a university student and I would like to earn some side income.

What are the requirements, need to be good looking? I want to at least try. Even if I'm not good-looking enough and get rejected, at least I tried.

What do I do and where do I go to get started?

And what kind of jobs are there? Is it those advertisements kind of model?

serious answer : Must be tall (this is rule #1 - absolute must, no way around it)
(exactly how tall depends, but generally need 175 or above)
No need to be muscular / six pack - just not fat
no visible scars / imperfections that cannot be covered by make up in upper body and legs

I'm 5'7. Is that ok?

Even for those kind of advertisements, billboards also need to be tall?

are you taller than 1.8m?
if you aren't, do you have nice body parts? ie hands, abs, feet, butt...

i hardly hear of part time models... the few girls i know are all full time pro models with agents representing them. and they travel quite a fair bit for assignments/jobs...

My body ok I think, I workout. I'm only 5'7 though.

I'm looking for those advertisements kind of models, like the one u see in KFC, juice advertisements etc...

Or are there runway models too? I dunno man, I never looked much into modelling before

i hear a lot of "freelance models" from my friends. full time model is hard to survive so a lot do extra "modelling" jobs on weekends to earn more money. some even do more than just modelling

Interesting. Please share more

Maybe consider modelling for shirts / upper body
Because mostly that height not nice when wearing any type of pants
*
Lol so most Malaysian guys don't look nice wearing any type of pants? Because I see average height among us is also 5"7

im not a model but from what i hear, the starting part is extremely difficult.. begging for assignments, fighting for jobs, going for trials/auditions and end up not getting the job... more than 95% gave up trying to make it a full time career. only the lucky few get to make usd10-50k pm...

and most started young. from like 16-17 yo...
*
Nah I'm not looking to make a full-time career out of modelling. Just wanna earn some side income. Besides, realistically speaking, are there any successful male models from Malaysia who's earning a lot?

QUOTE(koolio @ Oct 27 2017, 11:41 PM)
there's this hk model who usually hung out with us when i was still working in hk was already 5'7"... i think most of these female professional models are like > 5'6". so the guys have to be taller i guess. anyway, you may wanna take up courses on professional modelling - how to pose, cat walk, present yourself... do up a professional portfolio for yourself. and wrtie in to talent firms to see if there're any opportunities to work with them. good luck.
*
Need take up courses and do portfolio some more ah? Is that for runway models? Us Malaysians can runway for what brands?

Nah how about those like advertisements? You know like those advertisements u see on television like fast food etc. those actor/actresses

For commercial modeling (not fashion or runway) it's possible but of course you have to be good looking to get consistent bookings. My former uni mate landed a lead role in a Cadbury commercial, he's not tall either but he's Eurasian and very good looking.

Yes this is what I'm looking for I guess. Commercials. How did ur friend landed the role?

Six-pack, low bodyfat, defined jawline. Okay I'm on my way to achieving that, hopefully.
