That is for not so emergency fund.
But you need to keep some money that you can withdraw/use immediately - like if you get into an accident etc - no time to wait 1 business day
You can always use your CC to cover that, but it's still better to have something that you can use immediately
*
If you have maybank, withdrawal can be done on that day itself. Not needed to wait 1 day.

RM 10k won't able to play any game in conditional high yield saving acccount.
For RM 10k, better put into 1-month FD.
*
I have less than RM10k but I am getting full benefit from OCBC 360

I prefer simple direct product.
I don't really like those that requires applying additional credit card or buying additional wealth management products.
EIA is 3.5% pa which is about the same as UOB e-Account.
So I'll pass.
OCBC is out of my reach because availability of branch in Penang island.
*
The criteria very easy to meet.
1/ Transfer in min RM50 1 via IBFT from other bank
2/ Transfer out RM1 via IBFT to 3 different bank account
3/ Use their card to pay RM500 (can be used on ewallwts)
Radar. Instant free 4.1%

Yiu do know they have 3 branches in Penang right?
2 on the island, 1 on mainland.

Of course I know.
With experience of opening a saving account with Citibank was a nightmare, I don't want to spend my lunch hours in hunger to experience the same thing again.
I know it's easy to achieve but as I said earlier, I don't want to apply additional credit card or buy additional wealth management products in order to achieve high tiered interest rate.
*
Debit card and say link it to BP. Delete the card when not in use?

QUOTE(xcxa23 @ Mar 21 2019, 08:20 AM)
Those criteria is monthly or 1 off?
Pretty easy, even if monthly can set schedule in advance
Plus instant transfer now most bank is foc

Does the card provide cash back 5% with no min/max spend on specific day?
Pay as in utilities bills? Or spending?
*
On a monthly basis to get 4.1%pa

No cashback. But if you are topping up your ewallet is good.
Pay 3 bills = IBFT 3x into 3 different bank account.

I do not hate debit cards.
I don't feel secured or comfortable of using debit card that ties to saving account with high balance.
*
Then you may consider Phillip money market fund. 3.72%. No conditions needed. No maximum cap. Just lag time in withdrawing.

Just use their debit card. Max spend is RM500. Not a single Sen more.

Tat’s why Ramjade anti OCBC because of card returns
*
Exactly. I only utilise 360 account when I have maxed out cashback from my CC and I need to make some more purchase. So just spend RM500 using their debit card and dump in excess money keep there until new month. No choice. Then transfer it back to Phillip money market fund.

Just started my first job. Looking for a savings account with high interest. Is Standard Chartered PSA still the best if I just wanna dump money in and earn interest? Not paying any bills as I still live with family and my spending only around 500 per month, so can save a lot.

I have looked around:
1. Standard Chartered PSA - 2.1% (Won't be able to fulfill the other conditions consistently)
2. OCBC 360 -  1.65% (Can fulfill deposit and spend category)
3. RHB Smart Account - 1.85%
4. UOB ONE Account - 1.65%

Seems like PSA still gives you the best interest even if you just wanna dump money in and not fulfill any spending conditions. Any other suggestion?

Phillip money market fund. Stash away simple.
Keep in mind you may need to wait 2-3 days to get your money.
You can't get your money out on weekends/public holidays

Do you have existing RHB CASA account?

If yes, DIY online.

If no, then that's right. The only bank in Malaysia which insisted on mobile phone bill when I open account with them. And this is after I have CC and HL for 1year plus with them. Serious facepalm
*
I think OCBC 360 is better than RHB at current interest rate.

Cause if the task while OCBC 360 is pretty straight forward. Even for paying bills part RM1.00 into tnb x3 us counted

For me I just use KDI save.. Too lazy to jump through hoops. Was an ex OCBC 360 user when interest was 4.5%p.a

Disagree. RHB Smart account u pay 6 bills also entitled to the bonus rate of 15%. Whereas ocbc 360 you need to spend minimum of RM500 to hit one of the bonus rates criteria
*
Which is easy. Just top-up your ewallet like TnG and then withdraw it. No need to actually spend the RM500.

Oh ya, you win OCBC 360 is much easier with your way, easier to get ban by TnG also

Is that the reason why you stick with KDI only now?  rclxms.gif
*
No. Cause too low interest rate.for too much work If and when they give 4.5%p.a interest, I will reopen and do it if MMF not givingbme the same returns. I use to do it on bigpay though. Pay RM0.50/withdrawal back to bank account and earn more interest gain from OCBC 360. The time when TnG not even in the market yet.

Currently I'm already having AmBank Savers acc and was thinking should I be opening UOB one ?

Previously was CTB - STEP-UP INTEREST ACCOUNT but then UOB took over and just gave Privilege Account.

Alternatively, when I apply for loan for better interest rate .. advised to open Hong Leong Pay&Save - i Account (don't know why they pick for me Islamic and never asked/inform me)
*
Just use KDI save or versa. Returns beat all the high yield account in Malaysia.

For 388, 8k deposit.

Not sure the prmotoion still ongoing or not

RM388 for RM8k is lesser in % Vs RM100 for RM2k
If use unifi it's only RM6k deposit

Did you already get the 388 reward?

I opened on 29/04 using UNIFI refferal, deposited 6k, the app then auto deduced rm8 for debit card, then I topped up rm8, but other than getting ONE interest, have not gotten the RM388 reward yet.

T&C does say that they only allocated ~rm71k total for the whole campaign on a first come first serve basis, and also to be credited within 90 days so not sure if I should wait another couple months or just count my losses and withdraw.
*
I haven't even open 😅
Wait 90 days lo.
