Come share your hobby room and how did you setup it up?.
I see lots of people with lots of interesting hobby collecting and building their favorite stuff and keeping it nicely on their shelf and some even build a whole room for it. I see many Gundam, legos, watch collector, drinking can collectors, hotwheels, cloth makers, wood work, art work, scale plastic kits, sports stuff, Starwars collectors and etc have cool hobby space to show their collections. I've seen many of my friend who also both young and old, male and female have their special room setup dedicated for their hobby and spending positive and productive time yet creatively setup their room to make it more lively thus motivated thus passionate about thing they do. Like people used to say "Ambition and happines starts at home".

So if you have interesting room setup, shelf, table, workshop or mini space for your hobby feel free to show your space and let people know that you have a passion for your hobby, plus it might help other to give them ideas how to start setup up their own dream space for their man/woman's cave.

Here my man caves, collection of R/C models from years of R/C activity for more than three decades. It reflect my passion, ambition also also my present career related to my hobby. I have my mini workshop, hangar space for my planes, 3d design/printing, r/c models and hangout for my buddies and guess outside the room. Have all the inventory access to work on my project systematically. Library of videos and media to enjoy all R/C related stuff when i'm in lazy mode. The cost of setting up my cave is fairly cheap since i use recycled furniture, cheap shoe rack, iron board stand as deck, re-painted kitchen furniture as model shelf and mix match color of furniture with my model to make my living space looks harmony. No IKEA or any branded furniture around....only cheap RM$45 table from Court Mammoth and other $1 store for picture frame and etc to work on the decor. So everytime i get back home from airfield or activity i can just sit back, relax and feel the aura of my passion workmanship around me.
Btw i still need to work on room for my CAD design supercars collection and creating mini R/C racing indoor track. Will post some updates soon. Cheers.

Nice! Is that your ceiling? Maybe its a good idea for my aircraft room. I did think about that idea, i need to improve the lightings to make the blue skies more vibrant. The one shown on my main hangar have crappy lighting. My android control LED lighting sets from Banggood.com is on its way hopefully brightens everything.

yes, you should make your room brighter so that is will looks more spacious..

Ah yes very true about the mirror, almost go an ikea cupboard which almost have mirrored glass to store my 1:35 scale 4x4 micro models. Right now still looking for the perfect one. Let me know how yours look like if you get one since your diecast models usually share the same space style as my micros. My first concern is the colors of the shelf.

I have a games room too. It is still a work in progress as i am adding new stuff to it whenever I come across something interesting.

I am a bit short on cash at the moment as funds have been redirected to my cinema room. Installing Bose SoundTouch system to the whole house is a huge money sink. And the worst offender is the Bose 650 which is to be installed in the cinema room together with a 4K projector.

Btw i love the black cupboard very cubic/rubix (black) , it really fits my styling to store my R/c cars. Where did you get it?
I feel you too about budget. I have to resort DIY to solve my problem. Sometimes like using kitchen plastic rack to store my R/C stuff. Those frame picture around my room i used color printer instead of actual photo develop at photography shop to save money for wall decor. Show us soon when you finish your cinema room and your game room.

Since wife took over the interior design for the whole house, I have control over two rooms in my home - cinema and games room. Even my kids playroom and the library are off limits.

My wife thinks that I have bad taste in interior decorations.

I will post pictures of the cinema room when it’s ready. I still need a lot of cash to buy proper furniture for the cinema room.

Back from work straight away jump on sofa, turn on the music, relax and read some rc model books before cooking. Then back to my hangar to continue my projects and stuff. Having man cave improve man's mental health.

Don't really have a room to display them, both gaming/entertainment and Gundam is in the living hall

Still its manly stuff, you should show your proud hobby space. I used to have plenty of Gundamn that share same space with gaming center. Not sure where's my Gundamn now...and Patlabors.

Btw here how my space look like before renovation. Very messy and clutter in one room few years ago located almost attic side. Very gloomy and less moddy when stuff is thrown around back then.

i quite toy & hobby collection, now already sold out 20% of my collection. trying to reduce my collection to 50% & allocate new space.

The dust accumulated once each year, so i dust it every month of May. The room seldom have dust.
If i were you i wouldn't sell anything that i work hard on because sometime each stuff i build, create and enjoy bring great nostalgic memories and sometime represent that person identity and ambition. For some people they will look at you as if you're not grown up but if you look deep on what you do you actually did positive things in life despite people view it toys or cash thrown hobby but slowly it generate an ambition and career. If you look at youtube some people did and does generate career based on their favorite hobby.
All the stuff you see here i didn't even spent much cash..the max i spent was RM500 per-year, its all comes in almost free because i receive lots of sponsorship and support from various hobby agents and community for pioneering something i'm good at. I did throw away 20% but came back to me again 50%, lol. But right now i can no longer throw away because each and few of these plane already made its fame for pioneering the impossible in the world. With my hobby knowledge in R/C and aviation i also landed with many career, contract and part-time educational jobs. My other hobby also into 3d modelling and designing for gamers. So it looks like all these years designing, building , racing R/c, flying R/c and then DIY drone technology finally bring promising career and future. Now i'm a happy man, at least i don't to spend much to enjoy my hobby because it grows almost freely with almost no cost. So when you have a hobby you have a super bright future ahead. Yeah i have a cool life. That why you must have man-cave or she-shed to reflect who you are and your achievement.

Latest updates (30/10/2017): MAN HOUSE V3.0

Recently i manage to make some changes to my room after receiving feedback from my R/C community so last Saturday and Sunday (yesterday) i manage to rearrange my Main Hangar, The Pilot Lounge and also the third Hangar (workspace) to more efficient and spacious area for me to walk around, spread out my models and able to access working resource more efficiently. Now its far improved workplace to work on my hobby than previous setup.



HANGAR V3.0
Rearrange my models according to category, prefectly lineup on the wall, cupboard and parts storage inventory have been compacted to relieve extra space around the hangar. Some planes have been remove out from the hangar to PILOT LOUNGE area and also Hangar 3.

PILOT LOUNGE V3.0
Front area have been cleaned and some part of the cupboard have been repainted black to match the overall room furniture. The back side warm color area have been added classic big WW2 planes to match the old and tatami mat furniture.

HANGAR number 3/3D WORK STUDIO V2.0
This room have been rebuild to accomodate my 3d design works/concept design, 3d printing fabrication, airbrushing works and other hobby workmanship. This area is well vented near the windows and have abundant amount of natural outside light to work on my projects. Some area are not in the photo is still in work in progress. 2x mini computer is my mini server that provide digital media library that connects to PILOT LOUNGE and soon to MAIN HANGAR. This room will house some plastics models, design artworks and 3d printed works...waiting for new cupboard to arrive. Will post updates how the room looks like in 360 degree soon.

I am still setting up my man cave but here is my friend's WIP - he is planning to add one more cabinet into his living room, which is his man cave!!

Your buddy have nice collections of kamen riders, ultramans, gundams and others. Since its compacted in a small space... imagine how much space it need if the figurine space out, could take a whole room. Send my regards to your friend. I'm still looking for big glass car for my TAMIYA R/C cars which is still in my storage room but its hard to find since most only fit figurine size.

Can someone show their modeller's work desk/bench? Recently, I've got a nice large table and half of the table will be dedicated in building kits (gunpla). Wanted to see how you guys set it up

Yup staying alone in my awesome house. My crib, my rules. Oh forgot my cousin who is a game content developer contractor staying in other room next to my Hangar 3 in his own mini studio 24/7 so he help me to take care of the house when i'm not around and few of my cats to get rid of pesky rodents. So pretty much i have a cool hobby home. If anything happen the police station is just infront of the house, lol.


Will show you my big table soon since i'm also into model kit, hopefully before saturday since i have boxes of kit need big tables for my youtube work. My previous work table was already rotten and need immediate replacement.

Nice setup on your lego workshop i love your clean room setup, awesome share bro paanjang16. Is that rack custom made?, looks like custom aluminum frame. Btw your table looks like mine which i just added to my room.


Updates:
Here my updates with the small table located on right side of my workspace to work on my kit, soldering and painting works. Also moved some parts inventory into this room for easy access instead of putting in my main hangar.

The Galvanised iron racks are Ikea Hyllis shelving units. All the tables are banquet fordable tables.

I've checked with Ikea's agents for the Hylis rack but they did have any yet, the rack looks like it could fit my Tamiya boxes.
Btw since i manage to rearrange my workroom this week alone i manage to complete 5x huge R/C project in one go in less than 4 days. Happy about how efficient it is since all my work tools within reach when compare 3 months ago which took 1x project per-week.

Wow so many beauties .. how do you hang those huge beauties on the wall?

I used thin cooper wire to hang all those plane via under carriage/landing gear. For heavier planes i used those thick wire cloth hanger and bent it as hook to hang the planes. You can see the photos below how i hooked the planes to the wall.

Yup, i'm usually teaching flying stuff from making kites, planes and other simple flying hand build crafts. No charges at all only just ask the kids to bring material to start projects. Kids who join in ranging from 7~17 years old. The location is at Borneo. Its part of free time club activity and also teach kids how to be discipline and creative at works. Any idea on where I can get a liquor cabinet that is lockable and has a top shelf for storing wine glasses? I just need it to store my liquor and glasses. I already have a wine chiller so I don’t need it to store wine bottles.

I looked in ikea but none of the cabinets are lockable.

When we bought this house mid last year, wife & I decided to turn this room into our activity den.

So when we renovated in Sept, we knew what to install - additional sockets, Cat5e cables in the wall with wall jacks, custom built L-shaped desk with drawers & custom pinewood overhead shelves.

So now she got her sewing corner, I got my PC corner & drone corner.

So cool especially when your wife have a hobby of her own, so both understand each other spaces. Love the seat design, wall color and spacious mini drone setup workspace. You flying your drone via LCD screen, any FPV goggle?

There's an Eachine Goggles Two hanging on the wall there next to the monitor, and an Eachine VRD2 stashed away in the drawer.

Both of these are diversity faceboxes.

Waiting for the upcoming Eachine EV200 to show up to see whether or not I should get a proper pair of goggles.

Oh hahaha i tot its was a tiny motorcycle back pack hangging next to your monitor. lol. , ya the EV200 looks like a potential while EV100 have poor FOV feature. If it has bigger FOV i might pick it up due to its price for guest use.

I think you have a lot because if you cramp the space together so it looks small amount but if you space them out like a figurine per-cubicle that represent each Marvel/DC character on its own space on the shelf it will looks a lot and professional almost like exhibition style like the video below:



So i think if you rearrange it by spacing out you'll make each figurine standout more.

I like to get the components organized.
Digging through boxes for a component during a making session really potong stim.

At least from that seating position you can spin around 360 to reach the parts off the shelf with less physical movement. Very efficient arrangement.
