Hello Lowyat forumers & VW owners

Question to ask you regarding DSG transmission replacement and the VW extended warranty [VPCM Customer Care Goodwill]

1) My VW Car is 4 years old bought on 2013. So it is eligible for VPCM 2-year extended warranty right? So it will be total of 7 years warranty is that true? My question is after 5 years warranty, the extended 2 years warranty is just for DSG transmission only?

2) if question (1) is true, extended 2 years warranty is just covering on DSG transmission, anyone know what is the cost? I mean fully covered, or just the DSG only, but we need to pay the labor cost?

3) Anyone replace DSG transmission before? under 5 year warranty or the extended 2 year warranty which is in between 6th-7th year. What is the cost for replacing DSG transmission without warranty and if replace DSG transmission under warranty what is the cost? Estimate cost without warranty...Under RM10k ? Also, under warranty just pay labor cost only?

Thanks a lot.

I only remembered my friends cousin paying about RM26k to replace the DSG whole thing for their Passat 1.8Tsi. This was not covered under their warranty. Really really ouch to the max

Not sure about the price now. Best to call Volks directly and ask

Not sure which generation. It's the one with Cvt 7 speed shift paddle button. Minor shifting problem started to arise during warranty but service center couldn't produce the symptoms. It only get serious after warranty and Honda Malaysia wouldn't honor the earlier report/warranty/complain.

during the goodwill period, labor is under the owner's responsibility.. VW will only replace the DSG part under warranty.

thanks so much for your answer, meaning to say, if under <5 years warranty, VW will cover everything. but for the extended 2 years goodwill period which is 6th to 7th year....VW is paying for the part, labor cost we have to pay right? thanks

Same here, I'm driving Polo TSI 1.2 lol. Mechatronic problem ah...habis loh. now only 4th year. I wanna know the estimate cost for DSG Gearbox if without warranty. But my car is under goodwill, total warranty will be 7 years. Meaning not only DSG ada issue, mechatronic also ada defect issue? 11k is cut throat lmao. Do you know the replacement cost for DSG gearbox? which one is more expensive mechatronic 11k or gearbox lol bangwall.gif bangwall.gif

I will suggest you to sell your car while it's still in good condition. The overall price to maintain this car is not cheap especially when parts starts to fail. Any fixes will easily cost few thousands at least.

other than major cases like airbag replacements, I don't think there is any other brand that would give you any sort of warranty on anything without having to service at their SC.

NGK laser iridium plugs that VW TSI engines use cost closer to RM200 when bought externally. I'd love to get a pack of 4 plugs at RM100, can share where to get?

VWM isn't forcing any customer to follow this policy. If a customer feels that the warranty can be ignored, and have the car serviced externally from day 1, and have all major repairs also done externally at a lower cost, then power to that customer for being able to calculate that the total cost of ownership is still overall cheaper when having everything done externally.

there are competent third-party VW Audi specialists that have the know how, equipment, software, parts etc to completely service and repair just as good or better than SC, it's just up to the customer to decide.

yep yep, understandable.... but heh.... its as you put it, there are competent 3rd party whorkshops who are experts and can do it up for a fraction of the price.
