lets once in a while we forget about diving, winking, god-hand-goal, head-butting, and kungfu-kick.

lets focus on players' off-pitch attitudes.

anelka is hopless sh!t.
i remember arsene wenger publicly dislikes him cos he 'banyak macam at arsenal last time'.
and he also 'fight' with France national squad--after being dropped once, he quitted international football.
and in my FM game, he also banyak macam.--angry and wants to be transfer listed when i substituted him after 70min in one game only.

I was about to say that as well. He's been drunk and made a fool of himself countless times.

I don't get it why people hates Anelka.

If you want people with purely bad attitude, just look at the English players. Look at Dennis Wise, Robbie Savage and Joey Barton; the way they play and commit their tackles; they thought they were playing rugby instead. English players are the ones mostly quarell in the tunnel before and after games, go watch replays if you guys don't believe. All the projected images on players are done by the media; coverups and superlatives. Scholes wouldn't even shake some players hands, and some players were ridiculed for not doing so. What good lord media the land of the Queen has !

Read the thread title, it says, "off the pitch".

There is a reason why they labeled Anelka, "The sulk". A lot of it can be attributed to his agent, his very own brother.

QUOTE
Anelka started out at Paris Saint-Germain as a youth player. In November 1996, at the age of 17, he joined English club Arsenal for a fee of £500,000, under newly appointed Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger. His first team opportunities were limited in the 1996-97 season, but in the 1997-98 season he broke into the first team, after a long-term injury to striker Ian Wright. Anelka was a key player in Arsenal's "The Double" win, of both Premier League championship and FA Cup trophy that season. Anelka scored the second goal in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Newcastle United in that season's FA Cup final.

A player with exceptional pace and finishing ability, he won the PFA Young Player of the Year Award in the 1998-99 season, but Arsenal failed to defend their Premiership title and made little progress in the UEFA Champions League. In addition, Anelka made it clear he wanted a better salary than the one Arsenal were offering him. Rumors of his older brothers, who were his agents, galvanizing his career decisions also emerged as the star was renowned for his temperaments with his clubs, forcing him to be left with the unenviable nickname of the Incredible Sulk.[3] He was eventually transferred to Spanish giants Real Madrid in the summer of 1999, for £22.3m. In all he made 90 appearances for Arsenal (including 17 as a substitute), scoring 28 goals and establishing himself as a top class striker.

Anelka spent just one season at Real Madrid, and played in the side that won the UEFA Champions League final, beating Valencia 3-0. However, his form was remarkably worse than it had been at Arsenal - scoring only four goals in 29 appearances - and his inability to mix with his teammates (with the exception of good friend Steve McManaman) as well as to cope with media attention led to him leaving in the summer of 2000. He began his second spell at Paris St-Germain, in a transfer deal worth £20 million.

After one season at Paris St-Germain, Anelka returned to the English Premiership, signing a one-year loan deal with Liverpool. He failed to hold down a regular first team place and manager Gérard Houllier decided not to offer him a permanent deal after the end of the season. Nevertheless, he placed 96th in the 100 Players Who Shook The Kop. Anelka opted to join newly promoted Manchester City and the £12 million fee paid by manager Kevin Keegan was a club record.

In his three seasons at Manchester City, although scoring freely, the addition of Anelka to the club's squad hardly made a drastic difference to its playing fortunes. They finished ninth in 2002-03 season, 16th in 2003-04 season and midway through the 2004-05 season they were looking set for a mid-table finish at best. There was increasing speculation as to whether Anelka was going to be transferred to a bigger club.

On January 27, 2005, the speculation ended when Manchester City announced that it had agreed a £7 million fee for Anelka's transfer to Turkish team Fenerbahçe. Anelka helped the Turkish club win the league title in 2005. In August of that same year, there was considerable speculation in the press that Anelka was being courted by Newcastle United for a return to English football, although the transfer never came about. Anelka stayed on at the Turkish club where he played with them in the UEFA Champions League, but they finished bottom of their group. They also fell short in the title race in 2006, as rivals Galatasaray won the title on the season's final day.

During the summer transfer window of 2006, press reports once again linked Anelka with a return to English football. Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp was allegedly willing to either pay £8.2 million to bring the striker to Fratton Park, or take him on a season long loan. However, Bolton Wanderers swooped in and on August 25 2006, manager Sam Allardyce announced that he had signed Anelka on a four year deal for a club record of £8m. This brought his total combined transfer fees to approximately £69.8 million.

Anelka took time to settle in at Bolton, and took until 25 November 2006 to score his first goal for the club. Ironically this came in the form of a brace against Arsenal, the club that introduced him to the Premiership. In this game against Arsenal at the Reebok Stadium, he managed to score a goal in both the first and second halves of the game. The first goal, was quite remarkable, winning November's Goal of the Month award on Match of the Day.

Anelka celebrates his goals by making a butterfly sign. Interlocking his two hands and creating a flicking movement, On the 30 December 2006 Anelka Revealed to English paper The Daily Mail that the celebration was "something between me and my friends in France"[4] it is thus assumed a celebration he wishes to keep personal.

On December 23, 2006 Anelka scored two goals against his former club Manchester City at the City of Manchester Stadium.

On January 22, 2007 Anelka stated on French Network Telefoot and on ITV.COM/SPORT that he would happily leave Bolton Wanderers for a return to former club Arsenal.[5]

Alright off the pitch.

However he's not the worst of the bunch, but a hyperbole. Anybody seen the video of Roy Keane trying to punch Vieira in the dugout before the start of the game ? What do we see ? Things that the media want us to see, of course. I still do not think Anelka is the worst. Cap off

Let's hope this thread doesn't turn out to be another flaming thread between rival fans.

First of all, what you've experienced in FM is not a valid point for slating Anelka. It's just a computer game.

Secondly, Wenger never publicly bad-mouthed him in any manner, even if he "betrayed" Arsenal and left just before the transfer window was about to close, leaving us with the possibility of having no established strikers apart from Bergkamp for the new season.

His reluctance to play in the French national team should not really be blown up either. Bobby Pires fell out with the national coach too, but does that make his character shitty?

But then, I get your point about Nicklas' rather poor attitude. He may be a badass, but he is definitely not the worst.

Speaking of bad attitudes off the pitch, what about the few England players who got caught in the hotel sex scandal a couple of years ago? Kieron Dyer and his bunch of mates... Or Rosicky and his Czech team mates spending a night's out in a hotel room with "female fans"?

Rooney: Prostitution, fights and brawls...

Pennant: Drink driving, fights, breaking ground rules in tournaments...

Off topic, but on the pitch incidents:
Lehmann abusing his team mates in Milan,

I think the title is way too broad.

How sure are you that particular football player have the worst off-pitch attitude ?
Do you monitor every football players in the world ? All the forumers come out with their "worst player" are basically based on what they have read on newspaper and football websites. And I wonder how reliable the source is rolleyes.gif

What a wasted talent he was.

I just remembered an incident. Nothing to do with a players attitude, more so to do with him being a pain in the butt. Jon Otsemobor (spelling??? - formerly of LFC) was shot in his arse while on a night out in town biggrin.gif

don't understand why is Gamst Pederson even mentioned here, a low profile player who has done nothing wrong to attract the media. He's a great player on the pitch too who is arguably one of the best left winger this season. Furthermore, he's linked with Manchester United which coincidentally you are a red devil. blink.gif

Well, one of the main reasons of that melee was that Ljungberg was dulan with Melberg's overzealous challenge which who have broken his leg... so yeah... belasah each other...

Oh yeah, just remembered... there was once an issue (very old issue, 2005 issue i think, or maybe early 2006) of Malaysian 442 magazine which showcased the top 100 madmen of football... try to get that issue to have an idea of the wacky things that happened off pitch.

Speaking of which, has anyone mentioned Edmundo yet? Smashed his car into someone... mad booze parties where he made his pet chimp drunk... shakehead.gif

I agree that Lee Bowyer and Woodgate's assault on the Asian student is something very disgraceful, and if what you said is true Bowyer's racist mindset is indeed pathetic.

However, your outburst of vulgarities ain't doing much to help too. Don't let others think we Asians are an uncivilised bunch.

He's been mentioned many times on other threads.

For all his violence on-field, he doesn't really get into that much trouble off it. The surprising thing is that he is a tee-totter, he doesn't drink.

Jermaine Pennant.

On 23 January 2005, Pennant was arrested and charged with drunk-driving after crashing his Mercedes into a lamp-post in Aylesbury, while serving a sixteen month driving ban and uninsured. Upon being arrested, Pennant initially gave his name as that of Arsenal teammate Ashley Cole. Pennant pleaded guilty to drunk-driving and driving whilst disqualified, and he was sentenced to ninety days in prison on 1 March.[5] He was released on parole after 30 days and immediately returned to playing for Birmingham, although he had to wear an electronic tag at all times, including while on the pitch. His problems continued, as he was reportedly involved in other incidents resulting in Birmingham's manager, Steve Bruce, issuing him with a warning

The thread title mentioned worst off field... Imo, Joey Barton is the worst for his off field anitcs, and Joe Cole comes close behind for sleeping with someone elses girlfriend.

for me..i would say zlatan ibrahimovic....

he joined inter after juve have been relegated to serieB..but only after one season when juve has been promoted back to serieA, suddenly he said in a press conference,"juve is a victim in an act of jealousy.people were jealous coz juve keeps winning" (not his exact words but sound like it)...

what he's trying to prove? did he joined inter only bcoz of juve relegated?i think its just he's tactic so that he can go back to juve...anyway,that's not the kind of attitude the team needs....

i never liked him anyway... mad.gif

no offense to juve fans..i still respect the team...hehehehe

yeah, bad off pitch attitude
but both of them scored in the game and liverpool went on to the final
sometimes on pitch performance can repair their off pitch mistake

some of you listed bellamy and pennant
i was afraid they will make headlines for the wrong reason
but so far so good

rooney also
new team and new manager has changed his off-pitch attitude

u shud remmber george best who was so good on field that he didn't attend training and came late for a match for man u, with a girl in his arm and a wine bottle in another
he was not allowed to play

anelka is not the worst
he's only difficult to handle
and a pain in the a*s*
the only problem is his mouth

the worst for me is gazza
he wasted his great potential
should be a legend
but he chose other destiny
bad boy
drinker
and like to do april fool prank everyday for the whole year
a bad team mate

I guess that as a role model, you have certain social obligations to live up to. Unlike you are I, footballers are looked up to by kids and they therefore have an added responsibility to behave themselves. It comes with the job if you ask me. They are well paid and nothing comes for free.

Same, I do wonder what Dirk Kuyt has done wrong, I mean he's no angel, but what he did that deserves the title 'the worst'? As far as I know he and his wife set up a Dirk Kuyt Foundation, helping out needy kids in Holland. If that's the worst act of humankind, I must be living in hell then.
More info at
http://www.dirkkuytfoundation.nl/

To be fair on Craig Bellamy, he also set up a Craig Bellamy Foundation, in Sierra Leone despite being a trouble-maker often off the pitch.

QUOTE
On 6 May 2008 plans were announced for the building of the Craig Bellamy Foundation for disadvantaged children in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Bellamy has visited the war-torn West African country and has reportedly been moved to invest £650,000 of his own money to help build a football academy to develop the country's young football talent.

Well Gazze was a drunk off the field and a cry baby on it. I think he deserves a mention. His lifelong battle with alcoholism stretches till this very day.

His reputation has spiraled downwards as quickly as his football career. Another case of a footballer gone wrong. He's now an alcoholic, in serious health conditions and has even contemplated suicide if I remember correctly. Shame really, he was England's most technically gifted player.

I hate the players who leave Arsenal and then go on to criticize the club that played such a large part in their development. Ashley insulted Arsenal in his autobiography and spoke to Chelsea without the knowledge of Arsene Wenger. David Bentley constantly b****ed about how he never got a chance at Arsenal because he was English when in actual fact he wasn't good enough, he even had the audacity to insult Wenger.

I don't hate Henry or Pires or other greats who left and nothing but good things to say about the club and Wenger afterwards. They were grateful for what the club had given them unlike Bentley, Cole etc.

The reason I think Cole has a poor attitude is because he cheats which is in itself a huge crime and as I said is not at all grateful towards the people who made him who he is today.

United fans for instance hate Heinze for wanting to move to Liverpool and labeled him Judas, Leeds fans hate Kewell for joining Galatasray despite two Leeds fans being murdered in Turkey, Spurs fans hate Campbell for joinin Arsenal on a bosman having said he was going to sign a new contract and so on. Get your facts straight before you run your mouth.

I guess i still got my right to speak up my mind...or should i get a permission from u? whistling.gif

I hate it when someone treated their ex player like junks...do respect Bentley...who would not upset if they spend most of their time not even on bench and only make ONE appearance and heck that was even not a full debut... a 22 minutes debut...coming on as a sub...whats wrong of him wanting to play 1st team football? He is selfish to leave the club for 1st team football... yet Henry is selfish too...he joined barca because arsenal cant win trophy....why dun u hate him too?
On ashley cole,if it was like what u said, i guess gallas is no where better than cole is.
from publicly declared that the club didn't offer him enough money and expressed a wish to play in Serie A to how he refused to turn up at Chelsea's pre-season American tour, din he make u hate him?

and even worse

Gallas threatened to deliberately score own goals if he was not allowed to leave Chelsea. oh and his infamous protest on the last minute penalty caused by clichy in the match against birmingham city....

If u wanna compare that, Gallas is no where better than Ashley cole in on and off pitch attitude...

Speaking of bad asses, anyone remember a certain stout looking fella going by the name Stig Tofting? He played for Bolton for awhile. Was a street thug before someone spotted him playing football and convinced him to take it up professionally. Has been arrested for assault on a few occasions.

I don't hate Bentley because he left Arsenal but because of what he said after he left. If you read my post properly you would have understood that.

As for Gallas, most Chelsea fans hate and with good reason. He wanted to leave a club that I don't support so why hate him, Chelsea fans should because he like Cole and Bentley showed the club very little respect.

dont mean to interfere with yours and disco's little rift, but i want to clear up a few things. there is a difference in ex arsenal players who slam their club after leaving like flamini, bentley, diarra, cashley... the list goes on. and then there are people like henry and pires who leave but still love the club. they were not being selfish. which is why people most of us hate cashley and not henry and pires. smile.gif gallas was never my fave player and although he's captain, he's still not my fave player. the only reason i dont slam him is coz he's a gunner.

The player with one of the best attitude's ever is Moritz Volz. I absolutely love that man, a true legend!

Added on October 9, 2008, 10:41 pmMarco Boogers is an absolute git of a man, played for West Ham twice after being signed for a million odd, and in his second (and last) game for the 'am, came on against United and sythed down Gary Neville. Noticable for being the worst buy by a manager, ever, in the history of football. West Ham fans have t-shirts made up with "I saw Marco Boogers Play" emblazoned on them, the spastics.

He had numerous mental issues where he supposedly roamed the streets telling anyone who would listen that he played for West Ham and spat on those that doubted him. Regularly got in fights and beat up a coach for shouting at him, one of the oddest players ever to disgrace a Premiership pitch.

I'm reliably informed he fled London after the United match and began living in a dutch caravan park, which no-one really must've saw coming. What a strange, strange man.

Marco Boogers

SaÅ¡a Ć**Äić played with Aston Villa and Bolton as well as Crystal Palace in England. Famously head butted Brian Little (Villa manager and all round mousy-looking nice guy). A drug addict and an absolute insomniac, he bought a double-Decker bus whilst living in Birmingham to have parties on, with presumably, Mark Wright. Eventually retired after an unsuccessful career in yankeeland, was recently on Serbian Big Brother.

SaÅ¡a Ć**Äić

Helder was an absolute madman who played for Arsenal, signed by George Graham, so presumably for some sort of financial reward, which would explain a fair amount, really. More or less a regular in his first season, Wenger took one look at him and sent him to Benfica on loan, and by the time he came back Overmars had robbed his place, probably because Marc Overmars was actually good at football. Went and played for some random clubs after being given his marching orders including some Chinese club named Dalian Wanda, who sound terrific. Attempted sucide in 1999 because of problems resulting from compulsive gambling yet continues to gamble, and is even seen playing poker on the British Five television station, representing the Netherlands, good old Holland and blatant disregard for mental health, eh?

He was imprisoned in September 2007, on account of threatening his ex-girlfriend and physically abusing her current partner. In March 2008, Helder accepted to be treated at De Waag, an institute for ambulant forensic psychiatry in Haarlem, where he currently resides.

Glen Helder

Morris was an outrageous arsehole, beyond belief. Dennis Wise's apprentice who lacked any footballing skill, but managed to be a nasty little rascist shithead all the same - Good friend of John Terry's. Was one of a group of Chelsea players who drunkenly abused American tourists at Heathrow Airport within hours of the 9/11 attacks.

We were being told that he'd be a superb player for years, untill he promptly faded out to the fringes of Chelsea when they fancied winning a few things here and there. Since signed for Leeds, another bunch of cunts, and then subsequently, Millwall, yet another nasty club full of scumbags - appeared to be enjoying himself until he was released and like all untalented footballers in the British isles, ended up in Scotland with St. Johnstone.

Jody Morris.

Marco Materazzi.

He's the culprit to put such a football legend Zidane down to the drain, in his final game.

Besides, I've skeptical with Italian players because of their cheats, but I've to admit they've good players like Totti, Pirlo & Gattuso.

the worst off-the pitch-attitude footballer?

difficult to choose because all footballers are human, so they do have their own kindness in themselves..some people suggest ronaldo here, but while there were many controversies (some of them are actually pure rumors) surrounding him off the pitch, we have to take note that he visited aceh's tsunami victims..yes he went to aceh himself..that is a fact..i am not denying that he has a bad attitude, but i wont say he is the worst..he still have that kindness and gestures that can make millions feel touched

but if i were to choose one, maybe i will pick paul gascoigne..a talented footballer, but never fulfill his promises because of alcohol and depressions..

difficult to choose because all footballers are human, so they do have their own kindness in themselves..some people suggest ronaldo here, but while there were many controversies (some of them are actually pure rumors) surrounding him off the pitch, we have to take note that he visited aceh's tsunami victims..yes he went to aceh himself..that is a fact..i am not denying that he has a bad attitude, but i wont say he is the worst..he still have that kindness and gestures that can make millions feel touched

but if i were to choose one, maybe i will pick paul gascoigne..a talented footballer, but never fulfill his promises because of alcohol and depressions..

So you're basing this on the team he plays for? Brilliant. Then I think Torres deserves a mention because, well, he plays for Spain, and we all know how racist the people over there are. nod.gif

Contarary to what many think, Vinnie Jones doesn't have much off field problems, he doesn't drink, is an OK footballer (I said OK because he captained Wales and could've played for many other teams such as Blackburn and what not). It's just that he is the original hard man, mad on the field, famed for the squeeze of Gazza's nut on his debut. Other than that he is an alright lad. Would love to see people like him go head to head with the likes of Roy Keane and Souness...

I think many are confused with on pitch hard man and off pitch knobs.

There are lots of off pitch knobs, one of them is Jermaine Pennant, he's been arrested for drink driving, got his license suspended, and was caught drink driving when he crashed to a tree, when asked of his name by the police, he answered "Ashley Cole", he was driving Cole's car then and they were good mates.

There are a lot others who love nothing but go out of town for a good rogering with the women, the likes of Mark Bosnich, who was arrested and had to have Ferguson bailed him out of jail, ON HIS WEDDING DAY!!! This was because of some drunk and disorderly charges.

There are lots of these around, Yorke was famous for the "spit roasting" video he made with the likes of Bosnich when they were at Villa. What about Kluivert who were convicted of killing a pedestrian?

Or Maradona? Shooting air pistol at journalists? Convicted of taking cocaine, but then again he played for Napoli and many sources said that he was controlled by the Mafia and that really give you no choice but to comply.

Just me 2 cents... thumbup.gif

You got the tough and cool guys being arrogant and in-people's faces like WRooney or DDrogba. No one messes with them. But I look up to them like gangstas of the real world and they deserve respect.

CRon is disloyal, arrogant, fugly (means fu~~ing ugly), looks like he owes gangstas a big punch in his face. I hate him. I really do.

It seems like you dont understand the word convicted? Did judge already land him punishment/judgment?And there is no certainty that he is wrong in this case, no?

How can u punish a person without even giving him a trial in court? If u say yes, then why the heck courts and judges exists in the 1st place? shakehead.gif

He missed the drug test was more due to carelessness.. He did re-take a test afterwards mind you and passed, but still he was punished for his earlier mistake which is for forgetting to take the scheduled test (he went shopping). More or less, it was a mistake and he has been punished for it.

Who the hell told you they were the ones responsible for organising an orgy party? Must have been that Liverpool mouthpiece The Sun then.

Added on January 4, 2009, 7:29 pmAnd if you're gonna knock Rio for skipping a drug test, mention must go to Adrian Mutu for snorting. Got one month less suspension than Rio though.

When the heck did I say Gerrard was guilty? As far as I know, he's been charged, and if the police deemed necessary for him to be detained, he must have been involved one way or another. Or are you trying to tell me that Gerrard was not in the bar at that time, the media concocted bullshit and it was a Gerrard lookalike who was seen leaving the station. Open your eyes, or are you too busy waxing your tinted glasses?

I refuse to believe anything of the sort happened until I see some photographic evidence. Walking around in Liverpool (packed with brothels) doesn't mean that he's looking for some servicing.

People often refuse to believe things that are bad, however, when it happens to another person or rival, even though cited from the worst possible source, they will still choose to believe it.

Nevertherless, that was just a jibe to your fellow Manc pal, who initiated this. I personally have better things to do than to condemn our rivals without any reasons, especially when I know that our players are no saints.

For you to say that I quote that from the S*n just shows how shallow you are and how hard is it for you to take insults or should I say, banter?

By the way, instead of having a selective mindset to read our posts, why don't you read what initiated this minor debate?

Looking back yea I reacted a little over the top admittedly and I apologise. Didn't need that. Had a pretty bad day today and probably got a lil ticked off too easily. Still, accusing someone of organising an orgy party when he had no part in any of that (and I've never read of Rooney going to brothels for group sex) is a lil too presumptious.

I must say that I have written it without consideration, I did not intend to write anything like that. My intention was to only write about Ronaldo at that part, my part about rooney is only about finiding prostitutes, no orgies, none. My bad there if you got the wrong idea.
