So far on latest Android P beta.

Bugs encounter so far is auto rotation sometimes doesn't work.
Quite stable and battery life not bad too.
*
I am on 8.1
Security patch level is still May 2018. Checked for update but it says my system is up to date.
Was wondering anyone else is getting their OTA update on time?

Hey ya. thanks for answering.
Indeed i'm looking at reaching the top area/corners so the one handed mode like the one from Samsung/Huawei or even the iphone's reachibility which I've accustomed too which really comes in handy.
I have look it up in XDA as well. I think only rooted phone can have this feature for now.
*
You can check out the this app developed by XDA in-house. No root required. Just ADB commands to give the app secure write permission
https://www.xda-developers.com/install-one-handed-mode/

The app is available on Play store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...a.onehandedmode

Just don't expect it to work as well as Samsung/Huawei/iPhone because this is not built into the OS. It is just an app after all. You might want to try out a custom navigation bar so it is easy for you to trigger the hand handed mode.

Quite sure the OP6 will trounce the Pixel 2 XL. Even the OP5T was slightly faster, although not significant.
https://youtu.be/CjW7EzdGnV4

Yes the Pixels have the best possible RAM management but it's still a limited resource and the RAM will run out once pushed past 4GB of usage...can't defy logic here, unless Pixel use RAM compression and all other Android does not. Check the video after 5:44. Most heavy apps need reloading in the Pixel 2 XL.
*
I personally think Pixel shines when it comes to software and services.
Other phones like the one plus 6, HTC U12+ or even p20 pro shines on the hardware side. Very different approach.

BTW, June 2018 security update is now live. I just got it. 😁

Hey guys,

What's the difference between HDR+ and HDR+ Enhanced?
*
Foudn this from XDA forum a while ago:

The HDR plus on is the always on mode that is default. It constantly takes underexposed photos and combines them to create better color and dynamic range. The HDR enhanced is the classic HDR that's on most phones that takes a underexposed, regular and over exposed photo and combines them for a bigger effect. This takes longer and is effected by movement very easily.

Well Google chosen to release quite long after the latest flagship SoC was released. E.g. Pixel 2 series was released around 6 months after Snapdragon 835 was available. It's a very disadvantage timing.
*
Phone manufacturers who only sell hardware will always push for the latest tech in hardware to entice you to upgrade because beside hardware, they have nothing else to sell. Google, Apple and until a certain extend Xiao Mi is not one of those manufactures. In this sense, their release cycle is not a disadvantage to them.

For those of you who recently just bought your pixel2xl from T&L Telecom (HK), just how bad is the display, i.e. blue tint issue?  Don't mind sharing with me again please?
*
Got mine Pixel 2 XL from T&L last month. Blue tint is there when you view it off angle. Black smear when the display is in lowest brightness in a completely dark environment. Apart form these issues, the display is fine for my everyday usage. My unit was manufactured in Nov'17 and it's sourced from Google Canada.

Think you should buy the display from abroad and get someone to imstall it locally.
e.g.

Just note that once you replace your screen, your water resistant is as good as gone.

SIRIM are a must for imported electronic, unless you're lucky and custom didnt hold your parcel and charge you.
*
I bought mine from T&L and I didn't pay anything to SIRIM. Needless to say, I didn't get any SIRIM stickers too. How ah?

T&L have office/warehouse in KL ( amoda building ).
Also when you import yourself and paid SIRIM, it doesnt comes with SIRIM sticker also.
*
Means T&L settled all taxes and SIRIM?

Anyways, previous when I bought iPhone directly from Apple online store and the phone was shipped from China, it comes with SIRIM stickers. I would think that it's the same.

I also search my IMEI here but no record found

Is it worth getting a brand new Pixel 2 now at the current retail price of RM 2.6K - 2.8K? Nexus 6P battery is dying on me.
*
Might be worthwhile for you to decide after the Pixel 3 has been announced. Also, you have the option to replace the battery on your Nexus 6P while waiting.
