When we got there with 2 crates in tow we saw 2 golden pups and 1 black pup hiding from the sun in what little shade they could find, when we called out to them they trotted up happily wagging their tails so after talking to the restaurant owner who had been feeding them the last couple of days but didn't know what to do with them next we popped them in the crates (2 in the bigger crate and one in the smaller one) and started to head off, but then the restaurant owner told us there were 2 more, they were hiding under one of the food prep tables. So after loading the crates into the car we picked up the last 2 (both black) and headed back.

The first order of business was to get these girls some water (there were very thirsty) and then food and a bath as they were covered in mud. They were all a little unsure to begin with and then slowly one by one their personalities began to come out. The biggest golden girl was the most dominant, the other gold girl was quite shy but playful, the smallest black girl was very shy and doesn't really play rough with the others and the 2 other black girls were quite mischievous. After a bit of playing they settled down for a nap while we contacted everyone we knew who was looking for a dog to let them know about these 5 gorgeous girls.
The next day was deworming, frontlining and a bit of early manners training (they loved to bite hands, legs, clothes, hair, pretty much anything they could get hold of) and introduction to chew toys. We also called our mobile vet to set an appointment for their first puppy vaccinations.

Over the next few days people came in to see the pups and everyone agreed that they were beautiful, some people decided they could give them a great home and picked their new puppy, however they stayed with us to get their first vaccination and for observation to make sure they hadn't picked up any nasty diseases. We continued to pick off ticks and watch their poop for worms (some pretty big ones came out :S ) and soon they were tick free and seemed to not have any more worms. They eat a lot and play a lot, 5 puppies are a real handful.

Now they are all happy and healthy, they are starting to learn that toys are for chewing and hands are for kissing, have loads of energy and love to play, have had their first puppy vaccinations and are ready to start a new life with a new forever home.
On Sunday 2 of the puppies will be going to their new homes, 2 more are staying behind to keep our last little girl company while she waits for a kind person to adopt her. Sadly as she is the quietest girl and tends to stay back while the others push forward to greet people she is often overlooked when people come to visit, however we are still hopeful that she will get a home equally wonderful as her sisters very soon.
