I thot it was legalised already? Or perhaps Grabcar not legal? Tomorrow got hearing at the court.

from what i heard before even taxi cannot suka2 pickup passenger at the airport, dropping off the passenger is allowed

For KLIA, only the contracted one can provide pickup to city if not mistaken. How legal is that nobody knows. It was like that many years ago.

Only airport taxi can take passenger. Even normal taxi cant pick up passenger at airpot

If I spent lots of money pay car, special license and permit to operate legally at the airport I would also be pissed if someone else without all those things just come along and take all the passengers away.

If JPJ acted based on complaints of the contracted taxis with the airport, then by all means please do more of this. It is unfair to them (taxi drivers).

In MAHB airports only the contracted airport taxi operators allowed to pick up passengers. Not even other taxi operators from city are allowed to do that.

I wonder if those that pickup friends of different races will kena?

Prefer to use KLIA budget taxi and the fare not much different compare to Grab/Uber anyway.

Airport Taxi. I think about RM10 differences. But u dont need to wait so long for the Grab car to come over.

its a nightmare to take budget taxi at KLIA2 when its near midnight. all taxi drivers will rest at roadside while waiting for midnight rate to kick in.

Responsible for catching Grabcar/Uber should be SPAD. JPJ should just care whether the driver have licence or cars fit to travel or not. Right?

Ok curious, what legal basis is used to make taxi/uber/grab 'illegal' to pick up passenger at airport? I know the airport is privately owned and they can make private rule so only airport taxis can pick up passengers at designated locations (similar to KLCC and the blue taxis), but if the taxi/uber/grab pick up at normal locations where the public pickup their families and friends, how can it be legally prevented if taxi/uber/grab is legal already? Since it is JPJ (and previously SPAD) who does this I guess there is something in the lawbooks that prevents this?

technically the bill to 'legalise' uber/grab/ride-sharing/e-hailing services only passed dewan rakyat and has yet to pass dewan Negara and also agong's consent.

actually they can, but they can only pick them up at the basement and not at the arrival hall lanes.

I found this out from a taxi driver himself, I took taxi to KLIA1 (company has yet to accept uber/grab receipts for travel claims) and we had chit chat about these issues.

TL; DR even among taxi got cliques and gangsters protective of their turf, hence airport taxi bans all other taxi from operating in airports, but the loophole is that they can only do that at the arrival hall level, so if you go to basement you can find the budget taxi waiting area and can take a cheaper taxi ride...

KLIA Ulat is a legit business. as they not ownin any transport there are no rules again it.

modus operandi target foreigner offer RM200 to KL. use phone contact Uber/Grab load the pax on the car. done.

Uber/Grab car driver drove pass terminal. SPAD tahan tanya passenger mana apps. tak ada apps kena angkut la.

*most ulat operate from KLIA1. but these day it also appear in KLIA2. some of them wear suit with few device on hand. 200-70=130. 1 day target 5 = RM650 clear profit.

Thats right. Way before Uber and Grab had some taxi driver friends (ok, they are old), they told me how Taxi driver turf wars get ugly. So in a way Grab/Uber benefitted taxi drivers-it broke up the gangland ways and separated honest taxi drivers from the dishonest taxi drivers.

This. Pity the passenger, pity the Uber/Grab driver and the company itself.

I hate these ulats. Always harassing passengers who just arrive. They are worst than taxi drivers itself.
