I know the title seems impossible in the present, but what would be the best option out there? (Please remember the word budget ) In my opinion, the Asus S510U seems like a good choice. But unfortunately, they do not offer i7-8250U+MX150 combo. Will there be this option in the future? If got this option (i7-8250U+MX150), I think this laptop will be the best budget ultrabook that can do light gaming. Do you agree?

Feel free to comment. MX150 is a lot faster than 940M.. Look at the benchmarks on -- https://www.notebookcheck.net/Comparison-NV...X.242750.0.html. At least 30% difference there. Even if all you do is play old games now, you might want to play newer games later on, and as you can see in the Tomb Raider benchmark, at the lowest preset, the difference between MX150 and 940MX is between playable and unplayable (I consider 60 fps to be the cut off point when gaming ). The power efficiency gains thanks to the move from 28nm to 14nm FinFET is definitely something you can't ignore too, especially when talking about a laptop. And that SSD will make your system feel a lot faster than the laptop without one. Attached thumbnail(s)

Yeap I totally agree about being a lot faster, but I don't think that MX150 is so much expensive than the GTX 940M, at most add only RM 150 to the 940M Model. My point is that, why they don't include MX150+i5 combo, which will be the sweet spot for everyone, budget friendly and more future-proof. The only reason I think Asus did not bring in that model because they want to sell more higher-end models which brings them more profit, marketing strategy that does not benefit consumers

And you know how Intel only lists the max turbo clocks now, so with those low listed max turbo boost clocks... if you game, the CPU will definitely be loaded on more than 1 core, which means even lower clocks. Check out the above table from extremetech 400 MHz on all cores should be a noticeable difference This post has been edited by IncredibleNano: Oct 15 2017, 02:00 PM

When we are using different designs with different cooling systems, it is a poor judge of the CPU's performance. We need two of the same laptops that differ only in their CPU configuration and benchmark them to really know how much of a difference we are looking at. Looking at the prices of the Kaby Lake Refresh CPUs, ASUS could have made even better profits if they sold the i5 variant for around RM300 less Anandtech has listed out the prices of the KBL Refresh CPUs, and the i5 is around $100 cheaper

Go for an MX150 processor or GT940MX processor If your looking for ssd + mx150 then its hp envy if your looking for hdd+ mx150 acer has a few good offers. If you upgrade hdd to 256GB ssd then go for envy ... it will cost the same Link here http://www.techhypermart.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=mx150This post has been edited by VCBlogger: Oct 16 2017, 01:01 AM
