Hi guys,

Need some opinions here on some mid-range/slightly good range of gaming laptops based on the following 4 brands/models I've saw in the flyers/booklets in Oct 2017.

Acer Nitro 5
Model AN515-51-70Y8
Intel Core i7-7700HQ
Win 10 Home
15.6" FHD display
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB DDR5
4GB DDR4 RAM
128GB SSD + 1TB
No DVD-rom
2.7kg
1 year Traveller warranty
RM4699

Asus ROG Strix GL553
Intel Core i7-7700HQ
Win 10 Home
15.6" FHD display
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 4GB DDR5
8GB RAM
128GB SSD + 1TB
weight not specified
2 year global warranty
RM5099

Asus ROG Strix GL553
Intel Core i7-7700HQ
Win 10 Home
15.6" FHD display
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB DDR5
8GB RAM
128GB SSD + 1TB
weight not specified
2 year global warranty
RM5499

HP OMEN 15-ce031TX
Intel Core i7-7700HQ
Win 10
15.6" FHD display
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 4GB DDR5
8GB DDR4 RAM
128GB M.2 SSD + 1TB
weight not specified
2 year onsite warranty
RM4999

HP OMEN 15-ce030TX
Intel Core i7-7700HQ
Win 10
15.6" FHD display
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB DDR5
8GB DDR4 RAM
128GB M.2 SSD + 1TB

My budget should be between RM4-5k and the Nitro5 seems like a good deal.
Please advice.

Would recommend you to build a proper desktop + portable laptop instead. Or if you're looking for portability AND power, build a mini itx desktop. You can get most of the specs above for around 3k :/

But if you're really looking for one of those, I'd say go for omen. Go for nitro and add some ram if you don't mind the 2.7kg and 1 yr limited warranty

Mini-itx is "moveable" but not entirely portable with all the cables and accessories right?

Just passing by.

Yup, but paying more than RM1000 for portability (unless you want to move your pc every 2 days or so) imo isnt worth it ._.

guys, then if buy desktop or custom build desktop gaming rig, how's the cooling system if compared against gaming laptops?
Will gaming laptop heat up faster/longer over the course of say 3 hours of non-stop gaming?

hey, yeah would suggest you to get a desktop if you'd ask. you'll save more money than getting a gaming laptop from above.
