If its under warranty period, proceed rma la.
Btw TS, if you r using your hdd for torrenting, I suggest you choose those Nas/cctv type of Hdd, not those normal HDDs.

See here for RMA procedure: https://support.wdc.com/warranty/?lang=en

Good luck and it only took me two minutes to Google it by the way.
I'll just give him a hand lol. Took me two minutes to Google if you know what to look for, so hope that's the correct procedure.

I download anime and movies to the NAS drive as recommended by you, right? 1 tb should be enough... I guess

After its done, I almost immediately stop seeding it and move them to my other 3 Tb hdd for storage, normal hdd should be good , right?

backup, then wipe the entire HDD

some times, those sectors are software corrupted, not really damaged, then you might salvage your drive

I have few files that are inaccessible, and corrupted... Is it started to die?

For storage, any hdd will do... for heavy IO activities use proper type of hdd such as Nas/CCTV.. if u dont mind about $$$ get those enterprise type of hdd. Those HDDs are designed for tough IO activities.
Btw, use those multi-bays external hdd enclosures for safer storage. Atleast it comes with some shock ressistant capability.

Do a file server, have proper raid and back up for important files. no need to worry about HDD failure, they eventually will warranty or not

Most people will store what you have so (1) File is where we centralized all our files (2) Server is where the files are sent to devices/client. Example for movies store all centrally and use Plex to stream it to all your devices ie smartTV, laptop, tvbox, phone, pads etc. Now your files will grow or HDD will fail so you RAID it, means a few hdd combined for redundancy and scalable. in raid 1 if 1 of your hdd fails you can just replace it with a new one without losing your data. examples of file servers are freeNAS, synology, linux and even windows which can use your spare PC.

When you have high reallocated sector count means you have many bad sectors. Low level reformatting would not help.

Nope, listen to mp3 can hardly kill a hdd, your OS, music player or even the HDD itself will cache the file to RAM, or HDD RAM, so the HDD wont necessarily keep reading on hdd to prolong it life span.
Also downloading large file wont kill it as well, all the operation are cached and later flushed it to HDD periodically, not every 1 sec sweat.gif

Your computer have few sata port? Using Windows 10? Then you can create raid-1, or mirroring as how Windows prefer to call it. Basically it use 2 hard disk to have the exact same image copy of data between the 2, so if one hard disk fail the other still have a copy. Read this to understand more
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-set-mirr...ancy-windows-10

When create raid, don't create the volume to it's max size. Decrease by few GB. Even though all brand say theirs is 3TB HDD, by bytes count is still different. To ensure max compatibility to use any brand hdd in future, decrease by few GB. This is for your storage, you should have another HDD for your frequent access to read the data.

But most important is to stop knocking the table. Knock and vibration is the number one cause for HDD failing.

Most likely. Better to backup your data to a new drive.

sector count error not necessarily mean hardware problem

sometimes it's the sector address corrupted due to multiple incomplete read write process. Nevertheless, you still need to fully scrub the hdd to rectify the problem
