Hello, guys, I'm using Interactive Broker to invest in overseas market, now I'm going to make some withdrawals from the account,
I've input the usual info that's needed for withdrawal, my bank account number and the SWIFT Code, however, IB asked for the correspondent(intermediary) bank,
which when I call my bank (Maybank and CIMB) to confirm, they tell me they have no idea, LOL?  confused.gif
I'm guessing the customer support don't have enough understanding of international banking.
When I enter the bank swift code of Maybank/CIMB, IB does give me a list to choose the correspondent bank, and I'm pretty sure it is usually correct with any of them, but just want to double confirm.
Anyone know which one is the right one? or having experience for this?

When I enter CIMB SWIFT, the below list is given

Try going to Maybank or CIMB branch and ask instead of customer support. When I received tt from USA and fill up their form, there was no requirement for correspondent bank, so this may be unique to IB and not a common practise

Thanks, after asking some of my friends finally got my answer, so I went with Citibank for my withdraws to Maybank, btw it seems like our bank wasn't getting trained enough to answer banking knowledge, all they do is keep telling me there's no such thing  shocking.gif

Anyway, got my funds next business day, quite fast.

You are welcome. I don't think Maybank is extremely familiar with tt. I remembered doing tt to USA before, and they did have some trouble in helping me fill up the form. IB is indeed very fast. Impressed.
