Hi all, no hiding I'm a guy here and have very little knowledge on skin care. But I think it's important to keep and protect our face.
Spending RM200-300 a month on our face is better than regretting it when we reach late 30s right?

Most asian has hybrid skin as in dry+oily (told by my cosmetic friend last time)

I am planning to get some products myself, any good introduction or do I miss out anything?

I'm currently using
Face wash whip from Evita/Suisai either one..
Toner from Lush (not effective at all ==) < any good toner to recommend?
Sana Soy Moisturiser (soft and really nice!) At first it can keep my face from drying the whole day, but after weeks of uses my face becomes oily after time.
Bee Serum I got from NZ.. Any other Serum to intro? Gonna finished it alr cry.gif
Bee Sting Facemask

What else do I need?

Actually I have huge pores problems, any good product to intro or ways to minimize pores?

Thanks biggrin.gif

Hopefully Mod don't remove me from here. sad.gif Sorry, I think women is more expert in this field. Yes I'm stereotyping! lol

I'll start with explaining the basic steps first.

1. Cleanse
- This is the part whereby you clean you face with a cleanser. Most people do at least this step cause it's basically washing our face.

2. Tone
- This is done after cleansing. It helps to clear off whatever's leftover from the cleansing part (including soaps that are still left on your face). It balanced back our skin's pH after cleansing, shrink our pores & hydrate our skin.

3. Serum
- IMO serum's basically added benefit we want from our skin care e.g. anti-aging, lightening pigmentation, reduces acne, heal scars, moisturize, firm skin etc etc. So what to get highly depends on what you want to achieve.

4. Moisturize
- This is where face creams comes. It may be quite heavy/thick, hence the day & night cream came about. But honestly, a good cream is suitable for both day & night.

5. Face Mask
- Different face mask has different functions. So read carefully & get the one you wanted. Most face are hydrating face mask, but there are some that can cleanse, can lighten pigmentation, can firm skin, can brighten & several more. Face mask is generally done on a weekly basis instead of daily.

6. Double Cleanse
- Double cleansing is quite rare in Malaysia. A lot people generalize that it's only needed for those with heavy make up but it's not true. It's basically using a cleansing oil (you may want to read about oil cleansing method) to remove make up (before step 1) or to clean every single residue plus nourish your skin (after step 1).

Now that you know the steps. The key & the most difficult part is to find the proper skincare to achieve all those. The skin is our biggest organ & sadly it different from 1 person to another. So what works for you may not work for other & vice versa. On top of that, you need to find the right ingredient based on your skin type; dry, oily, combination, sensitive or mature skin.

It's no point focusing too much on the brand, cause within the same brand they may have different range for different skin types. So focus on the skincare content aka the ingredients. Our body absorbs what we put on our skin, so choose wisely. Also a bit tragic but quite often skincare labels are very misleading e.g. it labels natural product but only 1% of it is natural or it labels moisturizing but it doesn't have any moisturizing ingredient or worse; has a lot of other content that dries up your skin instead. Lastly a lot of skincare are artificially hyped & just placebo effects, especially those heavily advertised ones.
