I dunno whether i consider myself a hardcore fan...
I try to watch every match possible and that itself is a task as most if not all La Liga matches are on very late
I do know my fair share of history and the everyday ins and outs of the club
I know what the club's chants sound like but obviously I can't sing them since my Spanish is non-existent.
But yet i feel that since im not a socio of the club i can't consider myself hardcore
I guess i consider myself a true supporter...."hardcore" is subjective for me

I understand where Chrisky is coming from.
It's all very subjective. I personally don't think u can measure your support for the club just by how many games u watch or how much u have spent buying merchandise. As long as u choose to support a club till the day you die it's good enough for me smile.gif

^ Wikipedia is one of the least reliable information sources imo...but it's a good place to get started i guess smile.gif
I must admit that reading up on the history of RM made me more attached to the club. So to Chrisky: Go do your homework!! tongue.gif

My only consolation is that Mr. Hicks and Mr. Gillett have promised not to preserve the clubs tradition, culture and values. Only time will tell if they live up to it.

If that happened Liverpool fans would be up in arms!

Haha, that's the difference between us fans in Malaysia and those in UK. We love our clubs to bits but we'll give credit where credit is due. And we don't see the need to kill fellow fans or players over disagreement on club rivalry like that taxi driver you met on your trip there earlier this month.

As for your hatred and respect at the same time for us. Ditto man, that's all I gotta say.

Oh..and hell yeah. It's a great, great feeling showing my allegiances to my club towards glory hunters. I derive extreme pleasure at showing how proud I am of my club regardless of whatever position we are in to my friend, the former Man United and Real Madrid, currently a hardcore Chelski supporter, or so he claims. It's still gives me extreme pleasures now, it gave me extreme pleasures when he was a Rea; Madrid fan and it will always give me extreme pleasures I reckon.
*
I think fans in Europe do give credit where it's due as well. They aren't as crazy as ppl make them out to be. Off my head i remember Man Utd fans giving Ronaldo a standing ovation after he scored a hattrick at OT and Real Madrid fans doing the same after Ronaldinho single handedly demolished us at home.

But i do wonder if the Mancs would do the same if for instance Gerrard scored a hattrick in OT tongue.gif hmm.gif

One day when i have a job ,im planning to become a socio(club member). Although VCF socio dont have voting power like Madrid, Barca and Athletic i still think becoming a VCF socio will make you one of them. Tbh, i envy those 3 clubs fan. I mean if they become socio they're part of the club, they're the actual owner of the club, and they can vote for new president and club policy. Because VCF is PLC(private limited company) , our socio dont have that kind of privilleges.

I know how u feel. It's my dream to become a socio of RM but i know my chances are pretty slim. But that won't stop me from trying nod.gif

I don't think it's necessary to get so worked up by glory hunters. We are all human and we are all different. Some understand loyalty. Some don't. We don't need to crucify them. Just let them be and ignore them.

I'm not saying we ignore them when they make dumbass statements. In fact I would shoot them as well. What I meant was ignoring them when they say they support more than one club. It's none of our business who they support. But if they decide to spew nonsense about my club. They better get ready for a verbal firing.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here. Although I believe in only supporting one club like some here, I do see where -Y- and shah are coming from. The arguments are between 2 different sets of viewpoints; both think they're right. And the thing is they are both right, depending on where u stand. We all have differences and we have to accept that. And u can't blame them for taking it personally when the language used by air_mood has been far from accomodating. It's the same with religion; alot of the strife we have in the world today is the result of inability to accept each other's differences. So i suggest everyone to just calm down and take a step back. Just hold back on the insults.

QUOTE(air_mood @ Jan 22 2008, 12:10 PM)
It would piss you off as well and when you already said why, they keep asking asking who, how, why and so on?? And I don't know how much you know regarding my stance on this multiple football club thingy, it's a big no-no for me. If you remember, I had a go at that certain fan(should I name names??) who proudly claims he is a Barca and Madrid fan. As I keep pointing out, it just does not make sense. But fact of the matter is, that's what you get with casual supporters. They barely give a feck about a club's history or anything else regarding a club.

The likes of shah_ho_nam, they're in way over their head here hence you see all the throwing in about university education, family status and all that crap. He basically knows crap about what he is speaking about and already been exposed as one who will not back his team thru and thru. And yet has the cheek of calling himself a fan. It's an insult to other fans who backs the team thru and thru IMO. He doesnt even know what a plastic fan means even hence why you see him then referring to me as jelly. I had a good laugh.

They are lucky they are in the LYN forums. Go to a proper Milan, Chelski or Roma forum. They'll get banged left right and centre. There's a good community of people who support multiple clubs hence why they can find solitude here.

To be fair to me and Jonno, we did explain our points properly at the start. It's only when they started to keep repeating themselves and making up stories( Sir Alex loves Milan????) oh and yeah, started becoming comedians when things went hostile. So much for "Lets Bring It On" ehh?? We brought it on and they were moaning.
*
Fair enough. I for one wouldn't put up with a person who supports both Barca and Madrid. But i still think it's pointless arguing with this kind of people. You ain't gonna change them.

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Jan 22 2008, 12:12 PM)
Football is essentially a blue collared sport and most avid fans are from blue-collared backgrounds. Maybe that's why someone with a PHD coming from a privileged background doesn't understand it.
*
I think that's a very stereotypical statement. You could argue that since majority of the population are from blue-collared backgrounds, that they would make up the majority of football fans.

It is a very general statement but in England that IS the way things started. Back in the day the public school ponce (if that is even the correct derogatory term for the upper middle class) would normally follow/play rugby. The rich (uber ponce smile.gif )would flock to cricket.
The working class (of which are surprisingly not well to do at all) would watch football.
*
Yeah and in Madrid, majority of their supporters/socios are middle class. Doesn't make them any less passionate or loyal. The way things started doesn't necessarily apply to now.

Seriously this is getting out of hand.
air_mood may be unforgiving in his replies but he does have his point.
I would suggest both of u to stop replying to him as u guys aren't rebutting his points properly anyway. Stop embarrassing yourselves.

hm.. they support it all the way.. i don't really get on what you want obtain.. next time don't put it as open discussion. make it for pro like u guys only.. even a good way of telling on how we should talk is forbidden here.. have it your way.. i am off
*
Hmm.. then why don't u tell us what u actually want to "obtain" from this forum if u aren't even willing to participate in any decent discussion but would rather talk 3 talk 4. I have no problems with this thread at all having given my own view on it earlier in the thread.
Seriously...stop acting like a 4 yr old.

You can't just utter crap and then hope to bail yourself out by saying no offense. It doesn't work that way.

And as a Madrid fan I couldn't agree more.
