A true fan? One must know who he is supporting in order to be a true fan. That includes the history, the fans, the team, the passion, the culture. Basicly everything that made the club into what it is.

It is sad to see that some supposing fans don't even know what their clubs been through to be where it is now. I have friends who has all the MU shirts in the world, but when I asked him "how many European Cups have you won?" (obviously trying to shut him up), he told me he is not too sure. And I spent the rest of the day laughing at him.

And this is not the only case, I've met people who don't even know who was the manager prior to GH. And they call themselves Liverpool fans.

As for me, I consider myself a proper fan. Not hardcore. But definately not a casual fan. I watch all Liverpool games, I read a lot about the history of the club. I even tried learning songs of Youtube. I sing when I watch games. I even sing YNWA when I play Fifa. tongue.gif I don't call my own players useless after they had 1 bad game. I worship Fowler, Biscan and Garcia. biggrin.gif The only bad part is I am too far away from Liverpool. It is really hard for me to absorb the culture. The only way for me to try absorb the local culture is by reading forums with a lot of scousers (RAWK is good).

To me, supporting the club is not only about the football, it is also about supporting the values that the club holds dear upon. Not only on the pitch, but values off the pitch as well. I daresay supporting Liverpool has made me a better person. Shankly has rub a bit of his humillity onto me. Carra showed me that being a honest man would get you far in life as well. The Liverpool way has thought me to be humble and unassuming.

I owe a lot to LFC and the only way I can repay them now is by giving them my unconditional support.

How can you love someone when you don't know someone?

Hmm...let's steer away from that. Let's discuss: Do real fans diss their own manager/players? I know I do that to Saha (all the time) and Brown (sometimes)...does that make me less of a fan?

This is a grey area. I think it is ok to diss. But to what extent? If things go overboard, one must just be as good as a fastfood fan. But what is the threshold then? No idea.

Personally, I refrain from dissing players that give their heart and soul for the better of Liverpool. If a player is a fat wanker and couldn't be half arsed to put in 100% in everything Liverpool, then to me, they are cheating the club and the fans and should only play for E*****N or better, shot. Of course, there are a few exceptions, like Riise. But that is a different story...

Then you must be blatantly ignorant. To be a hardcore fan of one club is one thing, but to despise another even when the club has proved it time and time again (not referring to any club) is another altogether. The blue of Merseyside might be appearing in the champions league next season at the expense of some "great team". Everyone would write Liverpool off as a "not-so-great" team as of now but they were still great team once upon a time. Give credit where it deserves and this time, its not on the red of the Merseyside and certainly they are not so great now. Oh, they are not far off from Tranmere, only one place off but of course in a different league. True, with players of a different league as well.

Blah Blah Blah. Giving credit to Everton by a Liverpool fan would be like wanking your boss off for a promotion. It is just plain wrong. Don't try to understand it with logic. You won't. This is beyond logic.

And yes, I am an ignorant arrogant prick. I don't care. I don't intend to run for the best football fan award, so spare me of these self-righteous crap. In fact, I am not even a football fan. I am a fan of the great Liverpool Football Club.
