i am. for the sake of your time too.. anyway it's your thread so i can't do anything about it... i just think that this topic would create more than what we need to ask..it's just my opinion towards the safer way in football arena.. anyway. good time and see ya around

You are so missing the point. Some of us have arguments and debates. We don't always agree and in truth, we often don't but what we back our arguments up with reason. If your argument has no reason or logic, please expect to get flamed. I've been told a couple of things and I find them to be good advice. See if they work for you.

a) Don't disagree for the sake of disagreeing
b) When people talk, listen. Be a sieve. Take in the good and discard the bad. Too often, people object merely because someone refutes their point. They fail to take a step back to see if a point has been made.

And you should read yours too.

You call people prick and people call you straight back - you cant complain .

who's buggering off now ?
*
By 'people', do you actually mean 'you'? Who is complaining? Far as I'm concerned, you're a deluded little prick and therefore, what you say means nothing to me. Want proof? Ask anyone here if they really give two shades of shit what you think. To be fair you can call on your friends from the UK. I'm sure you may say the same about me as will your 'people' but I don't really give a F.

Me bugger off? Far from it. I'll match you every step of the way. What's next?

Yo, anyone here has a partner that is supporting other teams?
*
Well my ex was an Arsenal supporter but being a girl, she wasn't all that religious. I made it a point she could at least name 11 players and know why Arsenal are called, "The Gunners". I tried to brainwash her but the most I could do was to get her to like Steven Gerrard smile.gif

A friend of mine who is a Liverpool supporter is married to a manc (a pretty serious one at that). Needless to say they don't watch our games together and they don't talk much after either. I reckon most women I know are mancs.

I have another friend who married one half of the now defunct, Juliet The Orange. Both are Liverpool fans and for their walk in song, they chose, "You'll Never Walk Alone".

I've another friend (a girl) who got married recently. She watches football while her husband doesn't, doh! Anyway she isn't a fan of any particular club, just a fan of the sport but while she supports anyone but Man Utd, she has a soft spot for Liverpool. She used to lyrics to "You'll Never Walk Alone" is her wedding vows. I don't cry at weddings but this surely did put a tear in my eye smile.gif

Speaking of 'real fans', I met this Liverpool supporter on Friendster. She is from Singapore and she's smoking! Got to talking with her until she finally called one day. We spoke for a total of 2 hrs on Shankly, Paisley, Dalglish, Hillsborough, Heysel, you name it. She did her research, something many guys wouldn't be arsed to do. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. She is a little weird though. I once ended a phone call because I wanted to watch the Man Utd game and she wasn't best pleased. Haven't spoken to her since smile.gif . Point is however, here was a girl, a hot one at that, and she bothered to read up on our past. It was like talking to another bloke to be honest.

Smoking~! My cousin is a Liverpool fan herself...and her boyfriend is a Man Utd supporter. Although she's not considered a real fan, at least she knows about the history and stuff. Her boyfriend loves to taunt her (I do that as well). But thing is, football brought them closer and not apart even though they support different teams.

It is possible I suppose especially when one or even both parties don't take it too seriously. My ex knew where to drew the line, because she isn't all that serious a fan to begin with. She would know when to take a step back. Problems will arise when the two of you are really passionate. It is inevitable that an argument would occur. Then it's up to you to see how fast you can patch things up smile.gif

not very frequent, that happening.  it's even worse for me as a Chelsea fan, cos most of the fans now tend to be the younger ones, it's very hard to find someone who knows about Chelsea...let's say, pre-RA?!  sweat.gif
*
Well I suppose history needs to start somewhere. Younger Chelsea fans may very well stand by the club for years to come and history starts now. Thing is with the number of fickle fans these days, chances are slim. I met this Chelsea fan that used so support Liverpool. It must have been 3 - 4 years back when we played one another. I was watching the game at our ex home, Broadwalk. In the midst of a sea of red was this blue jersey. I knew this guy from before through work and never got to asking if he supported any EPL club. Anyway, I walked up to him and complimented him, saying how I respected him for being the only Chelsea fan amongst a crowd that consisted mainly of Liverpool fans. He then said, "I used to be a Liverpool fan also wat". Ok, respect was totally lost then.

Most Chelsea fans I know are pretty ignorant but people like aw13 are pretty serious. I've watched a few games with the official Chelsea supporters club and they are pretty enthusiastic. In fact, I know more Man Utd supporters who aren't that serious. It's from my personal experience of course, with friends I know. Some even have the audacity to ask me how their game was and what the score was.

when ur team looses, how long does it take you to get over it, and do ur partnerd do anything to comfort u? hehe... just wondering
*
To be honest, it doesn't take me too long depending on the manner of defeat. Losing to AC Milan in Athens was a bitter pill to swallow considering we played much better than we did in Istanbul. However I was proud of the boys and didn't take the defeat all that hard. I was also proud to see everyone stay behind after the game to cheer the lads on as they went to receive their 2nd place medals, and also applaud the AC Milan team as they went to receive their winners medals. Fairplay, they outplayed us in Istanbul and we won. It was the reverse this time round.

In the league, only defeats against the mancs really hurt, mainly because of the stick I receive. Over the years though, I've become a little desensitized due mainly to the fact that we've not won anything for a long time until recently. I understand the word, "recently" is subjective. Let me put it this way, "recently" to me means within this decade, not the past 2 or 3 years. You have to keep in mind that this is so because it's been a really long time since we've won anything significant before 2001. Let me reiterate again to people who think a barren run of 2-3 years is a catastrophe, because it is not! Consider that fact that you are likely (I hope so anyway) to stick with your team for years to come. They aren't going to win trophies every darn season.

I can take a loss. It is the manner of the loss that gets to me.

Something's been bugging me for awhile now and I can't find a better thread to voice my thoughts on the matter.

Does anyone, in particular those of you who work listen to HitzFM in the morning? If you do, you often hear Rudy and JJ take call-ins from football fans after a weekend of matches. After listening to so many phoners I really have to ask if these 'fans' know anything? It doesn't matter if they are mancs, gunners or kopites, some of their comments give me the impression they are hollow. Today, you have a Liverpool fan going, "there are only two, teams, Man Utd and anyone else". What a load of crock! History would dictate that until Chelsea and Arsenal continue winning trophies, Man Utd AND Liverpool are the teams to topple. This coming from a Liverpool fan who I feel should be shot. You then have a lady manc going, "we'll be back". Where did you go? 1 season might feel like a loooooooooooong time to short sighted fans but hey, it isn't as though you've been relegated. Forget about today. I've heard mancs and Chelsea supporters asked to sing their song and all you hear is either Glory, glory Man Utd rpt or Chelsea, Chelsea rpt. At least bother to learn the rest of the lyrics lah. To Arsenal fans, sorry but I've not heard too many phone in smile.gif

Like I said, it doesn't matter which club they/you support but when you decide to 'represent' your club over the radio, please ensure you do so in a proper manner lah.

Not having a go or anything but can't blame the "Chelsea, Chelsea". That's pretty much the only ever thing they sing anyways, even at the stadium.
QUOTE(FauxHawk @ May 10 2010, 11:56 PM)
I actually like Chelsea's song. Very very catchy.
Mmm I actually heard the full version over the radio yesterday and aside from the chorus, it didn't really strike my fancy.

Speaking of 'lalangs', there was a guy who called up this morning and he was so happy Chelsea won it. When asked if he was a Chelsea supporter, he just said he was a casual football fan who like to watch winning teams so when asked if he was change to Man Utd if they won it next season, he just laughed. Dei, why don't any proper fans call up?

For me being a fan does not mean having to learn all the songs by heart, but at least 1 or 2 la, and not just the chorus! haha.  of course, fans nowadays (esp in Malaysia) are too blinded with other things, and only supporting for the sake of showing support i.e. belonging.  that's just sad IMO.  not for the game or the club, but for that person.
I'd have to agree mate. I don't know too many Liverpool songs myself. It's the player chants that I focus on simply because they are shorter and easier to remember smile.gif That being said, I think it's more important to understand the meaning behind the song or it's lyrics than it is to simply memorise them.

If you are a real fan, you won't have a reason to support your favourite team. Why? Because it's love. You just can't explain about things that why you love them. Look at your boyfriend/girlfriend, you love them because.. you love them. You don't love them because they are good hearted etc etc, if so why don't you love other girls/boys who are also good hearted also? There is just something between you guys that clicks with you and her/him and it's beyond words.

Love is an emotion and emotions are volatile. At some point you'll need something to anchor your loyalty to and when you don't know what this is, you'll drift out to sea. Relationships are just as much about logic as they are about emotion but bear in mind that more often than not, the former is more permanent.

That's more than I know smile.gif

I think you can get where I'm coming from then. The songs all have meanings and tell a story.

There has been some contraversy when it comes to YNWA with people saying that it wasn't a song that was developed for Liverpool or that other clubs sing it. Whilst that;s true, Gerry Marsden from the band "Gerry & The Pacemakers, who was a huge Liverpool fan presented the song to then manager, Bill Shankly who immediately took to it and made it our anthem. You could therefore say that while the song was not written for us, it was presented to us and what a song. It encompasses the belief within the club and it's no wonder fans still sing it even if we're losing.

"Though your dreams be tossed and blown, walk on! walk on! with hope in your hearts".

The song teaches us to grit our teeth, face adversity head on and to never lose faith. It's why I say not knowing the lyrics to a song like this one makes a big difference.
