3) I went to ramp guinness if Liverpool lost
What's "ramp Guinness" dude?

QUOTE(duarnt @ Apr 18 2007, 01:48 PM)
So any conclusion?
It's pretty subjective but if you look, I think the girlfriend analogy says it all really. I suppose a real fan need not be one that looks back on history. A fan who loves his club though, should. This is my opinion anyway.

You sound exactly as you claim yourself to be, confused. When you say you know what it is to be Scouse, what do you mean?

Thanks for the help biggrin.gif Scousers also have characteristics that are distinct to them, just like locals in other parts of the world.

A real fan...For me....=Someone who shares the ups and downs with the team, the cheers and the tears, to stay a fan even when all your fellow supporters switch allegiance after the team gets relegated..

Well, i very well cant watch championship matches on TV, so I haf to stream them illegally from the Net,resulting in super laggy matches, but still, listening to the commentary is good enough for me. Jersey? Can't get them around here, but is now waiting for a friend to go holiday in England,so she could help me get my jersey.
Good to see a Saints fan on here. The problem with your kit is that it's only available in Southampton. As you do not have a kit sponsor, Southampton manufacture their own and thus they are only available in Southampton.

scourser for me means ppl who support liverpool if i not mistaken everton is also inside liverpool area within few min from anfield so i called whole liverpool inhabitans as liverpudlian.
and as we know most scousers are working class ppl, n working class ppl are usualy very vocal n tight bond among themselve.. gerrard himself from those area so he knew wat hardwork means. we dont call evertonian scouser dont we?
Scousers are simply natives of Liverpool. Both Liverpool FC and Everton FC are football clubs originating from Liverpool and thus both are Scouse. It doesn't matter which club you play for, you are Scouse as long as you are born in Liverpool.

QUOTE(raymen9 @ Apr 24 2007, 10:06 PM)
IT'S easy to lose faith in football when the constant talk is of sky high salaries, super-inflated egos and sour grapes, whenever things go wrong.
But surely even those who have long since given up on the game will have felt a glow at seeing the behaviour of the Barcelona supporters at Anfield this week, and the response they drew from Liverpudlians.

Because it was refreshing, not to say uplifting, particularly as at the same time back in Spain, Valencia and Inter Milan players were serving up some of the most disgraceful scenes seen on a European stage for several years.

As players threw post-match punches and kicks in a mass televised brawl at the Mestalla which then spilled into the tunnel, Barcelona and Liverpool supporters reached across the divides of victory and defeat in the Anfield Road end to shake hands, swap scarves and slap each other's backs.

The Barca fans sang 'You'll Never Walk Alone' while being stripped of the European Cup they won in Paris last year, while in return, Kopites chanted Barcelona's name to register their appreciation and mutual respect.

Of course, Anfield was on show at its inspirational finest on Tuesday night and the display and the din clearly stunned new owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks.

But the Americans attending their first game were by now surely the only ones surprised by sights and sounds which have become customary at Anfield on such big European occasions.

In truth, what was just as impressive in its own way was the warm display of sportsmanship by the Barcelona fans who did their great club credit - and proved that born winners don't have to be bad losers, too.
Sadly, there is increasing evidence that the two aspects go hand in hand these days, when they do not and should not.

It is one thing to hate defeat and never countenance it mentally while a contest is alive. But it is quite another to refuse to accept defeat when it happens and behave with distaste or disgrace, rather than dignity.

The Barcelona supporters in Liverpool this week did themselves proud on that front.

They had thoroughly enjoyed Liverpool during the day - even their president, Joan Laporta, headed for the Cavern Club - and continued to try and do so after they had won the game but lost the tie on Tuesday night.

They mingled good naturedly with Liverpool supporters in bars around the ground and the city centre, without a hint of malice or ill feeling before or after the match on either side.

It can be argued it was easy for the Reds supporters to smile and engage them having claimed victory and less so for the Nou Camp faithful who had been shocked and hurt at defeat and it's clear prospect beforehand.

The sportsmanship, friendliness, warmth and respect which they brought from one great city in Catalonia to another in the north of England will not be forgotten.

It is how the game should be. But how it too often isn't.

If you surf the forums on .tv or RAWK, you'll notice that we have a good rapport with many sets of fans. Some examples are Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Celtic, Genoa, Fenerbache and Torino. When we beat Leverkusen at the Bay Arena in 2005, they played YNWA in our honour after the match. You will also have read in the past that AC Milan fans sang YNWA during the anniversary of Hillsborough. There are many such stories you'll find. It's refreshing and warms the heart given the events at Heysel.

QUOTE(aw13 @ Jan 17 2008, 02:16 PM)
I second that.

I'm with you guys on this. 3 years without winning the Premiership is hardly a tragedy.

QUOTE(Jonno @ Jan 17 2008, 01:21 PM)
There's no such thing as love at first sigh, only LUST at first sight, think about it. what do you love about that person (remember, at first sight), their looks? Their body? Their hair? Their clothes? What? Don't say personality as there is NO way you can know ones personality by merely look at them (remember, at FIRST sight). So all these love at first sight is bullshit to me, just admit it, all you want to do is to get into her pants and screw the brains out of her...  whistling.gif

I agree with you here. I don't think the term "love at first sight" is meant to be taken literally. It is a pure emotional response and makes no sense if you look at it from a logical standpoint.

All conquering Liverpool? That must make you at least 30 years old? It's been some time since Liverpool dominated the league and Europe.

It's also good to hear that a lot of Liverpool fans here starting supporting the club in the 90's, when we won nothing and the league was dominated by the mancs. Only a few veterans like Jonno, JonC, Zypher, Mad Moz and a couple of others have been fans since the 80's.

You referring to your 3 year lean spell? Trust me on this; in the bigger scheme of things, 3 years is nothing. I still remember how it was made to sound like a catastrophe.

To some (like myself), switching clubs is a cardinal sin. Like you say though, there are different degrees of fans. To me, it's more than a game. Liverpool to me, is a way of life. Sounds silly? Long story short, you can learn from the values the club preaches. Not being a fanatical supporter, you probably won't get what I mean but I just had to add my 2 cents to your comment about it being just a game, for entertainment. Also because I noticed you switched allegiances.

Supporting more than 1 club just means that you seldom feel the agony of defeat. Supporting Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea just means that you are afraid to commit to 1 club because you are afraid to feel sadness when your team doesn't win.

I can understand people who say they are fans of the game but don't support any particular club. Fair play, you appreciate good football. I cannot however like airmood has stated comprehend how fans can claim to support more than 1 club in a league, especially if they are rivals as per the example stated in the paragraph above. If you went to Liverpool and told supporters there you support Man Utd as well, you'd be crucified, and vice versa.

Fairplay and I agree. It's when these glory hunters come out with guns blazing at you, riddling you with spam bullets that it becomes annoying.

Errr, can, but I may need to alert the police first just in case... whistling.gif

Actually, that's a good idea. let's get the plan our after CNY, as a tribute to the Munich Disaster? What do you think air_mood?
*
Sounds like a plan to me. I don't see many Man Utd supporters during our LYN Futsal sessions though.

Jonno is right about MyRAWK. It took us a couple of years to get it started. You do need a few core members that are committed though. For that I applaud my fellow committee members like JonC, Zypher, Monstar, TheAlbertus and Mr. President, Jonno. Can't not mentioned the consistent support from posters like Flix, Popsoul, Lolhalol, Pandazhun, Lilredridinghood and RedShaun. Was good to finally meet easypeasy in the flesh as well when he came back from the UK. I'm sure a couple of the others attended as well but then ones I mentioned come consistently. It's not easy but for the game against the mancs we managed to attract 130 viewers. Not bad considering we've just begun organising viewings this season after our old place shut down sad.gif

I'm not bragging here but mainly pointing out to other fans that if you really want to watch matches with your fellow fans and can't find a place, perhaps you should start your own viewing group. It's a lot of work, but it's well worth it smile.gif

A friend of mine has just got married and moved to Manchester with her hubby who is working there. I've met him a couple of times and he's a manc. Guess what? I met him at the wedding and he told me he lives just behind Old Trafford. He now walks there for matches on the weekends laugh.gif
