On post race interview SLH has told Jenson that the team ensure they have 2 sets of new medium tyres for the race.  Which mean they already have 2 stops in their mind and it is only the execution part on when and what to do if he lose the lead or not losing the lead on turn 1.

What is pretty clear for this Spanish GP is that the Redbull seems to be well matched or even slightly faster on the soft tyres.  But on the medium (preferred race tyre), the Merc AMG has upper hand.  That is why Sir Lewis can catch up with some gap after 1st pits and keep his car behind for many laps only to find that the passing is very difficult because Redbull is fast on 3rd sector => [b]gap enlarge before the long straight at start-finish line.[/B]

So, if Merc AMG is faster on medium or the race tyres, then RB has little chance to win unless they pull out a good pit strategy.  And Merc is better with strategy so no chance for Max.

VB's race pace is curiously slower and his race was a bit compromised by SLH race.  For that I think he purposely ignore the team's order to let SLH pass for a short moment and made life difficult for that particular pass.  And in the process delayed SLH by at least 0.5-1.0 sec.

All in all, Merc deserved the win.  RB has to play second fiddle this time

That won't work because LH already undercut MV and with only 1-2 laps tire age difference,  won't be enough to have significant pace advantage for MV. I think their only outside chance was to pit MV again around 20 laps before the end with new softs si he could have about 1sec per lap tire advantage to catch back.
