FIA have big bunch of jokers. If such a move is permitted, many drivers can do that from now onwards. This creates an outcry.
Now I hope karma comes back to RBR at Qatar !

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Dec 6 2021, 11:55 AM) What baffle me a bit are: Generally MV has more fans around the world than LH I believe. And they are die-hard fans who will vote for him no matter he does it right or wrong. And for sure a fraction of them are also Racist people who dislike black.1. Why MV got 5 sec penalty despite him already letting LH pass? 2. How on earth MV got driver of the day with such desparate moves? Then to make it more puzzling, did he get boos during the interview? So how could the DoD got boos at the same time? Lol Update: MV then got another 10sec penalty for the collision with LH, so the 5 sec penalty was again for which one? Other than this I can't find any valid and solid reason for him to be DOTD with so many dirty tricks/moves. Make no sense. |

RBR's rear wing is notably slimmer than all of the rest !
And a mighty lap by LH, 1:23.2 |

Superb lap time by LH. Despite running slightly bigger rear wing.

QUOTE(bearbear @ Dec 11 2021, 10:06 PM) Yea, great lap by Lando.I was wondering why Mercedes did not replicate the same stretegy like RBR to do a tow. Probably they purposely drop him behind MV so as to avoid collision, then engage LH in a hunter mode. The med is always the better race tyres. Let's see how it play out. |

Abu Dhabi GP total 55 laps ? Soft tyres in the past lasted about less than 15 laps, with the improved layout the drivers could go to 18-20 laps with dropping pace. Med tyres should last at least 25 laps, even in its C4 compound. So, for a normal race, for RB : - 1 stop, from soft to hard. Hard has to do minimum 35 laps with dropping pace after lap 45 - 2 stops, from soft to med (lap 15), then to soft (lap 40). But lose at least 25 sec on additional pits - as MV has a damaged set of medium, he might just do soft-hard-soft instead. Which is slower than a proper soft-med-soft but he has no choice. For Merc : -1 stop and no other better alternative. Either being a hunter from lap 50 onwards or being hunted from lap 50 onwards by Honda boys. Which is the better strategy ? In the past under normal condition, most if not all drivers did 1 stop. This post has been edited by amdxp: Dec 12 2021, 11:11 AM 4WD_er liked this post

RB running slimmest rear wing is fast we know, but it does come with some trade off. If that slim rear wing is so good why they don't run it the whole season.
Mercedes only need to stay close during the slow section, then open DRS (when RB in front cannot open), the overtaking will be done. This post has been edited by amdxp: Dec 12 2021, 01:35 PM |
