The only glimmer of hope is the GP Bahrain, where Ferrari would have won if a short hadn't crept into one of the control units. In the GPS analysis, Ferrari won 8 tenths on Mercedes on the straights, but lost only half a second in the corners.

Montreal is similar to Bahrain in its characteristics. Most of the track consists of straights and slow corners. In Montreal there are 14 corners on five straights. In Bahrain the ratio was 15:5.

This week's hopefully Ferrari can have a good fight with Mercedes...

Mercs brings it's phase 2 upgrade to Canada though.

Bottas just said they are not expecting the new phase 2 engine able to match Ferrari's straight-line speed, haha.

LH tops fp1 for Mercs 1-2 about 1sec in front of the rest.

Ferrari strike back 1-2 on FP2.
I still believe this is Ferrari track. Doesn't matter Mercedes could be on pole, come race day Leclerc's consistent race pace could put him on win. Top Speed will works here.

Data analysis from Formula 1 website says Merc has the advantage on race pace though.

Got source? I want to see the Top Speed listing, can't find it. Unlike Motogp official site provide everything transparent

Why care about top speed so much? The overall lap time is more important
*
Don't care, I loves top speed.
Kinda remember early 2000 Williams BMW has highest rpm and top speed achieved by Montoya. But he lost to Schumacher although some tracks he overtakes Schumi

Finally SV is back on pole and yes Ferrari gains enough on the straights in the last sector. CL didn't do a good lap but VB really messed it up.

Good job by Ric in 4th to beat a Merc and a RB.
*
Well, Top Speed helps at certain circuit, simple as that :-)
That's the reason nobody wins ALL circuits in single season due to many different characteristic challenges. Haha :-)

McLaren almost did it in 1988.

Anyway if Seb can stay 1st after start then it would be difficult for Mercs to pass due to that top speed. Probably their best chance to pass Seb would be at the hairpin after sector 2.
*
I would expect Leclerc to pass Hamilton on the straights after DRS enabled.

Saw somewhere Ferrari + Red Bull leading group of teams asking Pirelli to switch back to last seasons thicker gauge blistering-prone tyre to stop Mercedes domination.

Ferrari needs CL to trouble LH in order to guarantee a win for SV.
*
CL will try to mess with Hamilton especially after DRS enabled and on straights, don't forget the Monaco road rage Leclerc

but the biggest problem is that ferrari engine uses  too much fuel, so bye bye championship.
*
what is this fuel consumption about? didn't watch the race but didn't see any article mentioning this.

As expected... another mistake from the red team. But the penalty probably a bit harsh since no contact. Should've view it as a racing incident.

I thought Horner mentioned Ferrari's fuel smells like grape juice? Should be environmental friendly and more fuel saving, haha.

Upcoming Mercedes should install air horn, so Hamilton/Bottas could horn and drivers should give way to them.

Parking on middle of pit lane, walking in and out from Mercedes garage, swapping P1 and P2...
Not to forget the Baku 2017 wheel bang with Hamilton like road rage, this Vettel really is like movie hero. rclxms.gif

Yes, Rosberg said this proves that Ferrari got their design concept wrong as they only ahead on too extremely specific type of tracks while Mercs got it right most of the time which is what the correct design concept should be. Anyway aside from the controversy, in the bigger picture the season is already long gone for Ferrari, and now looks also to get away from Bottas, unsurprisingly.
*
This year Redda is nowhere challenging for the win, for the first time after the past 2 seasons they looks totally out from contending for a win in any of the circuit.

Vettel already beat Hamilton twice "on track" on Saturday qualifying and Sunday race. Lost because of Marshall power only, lol
