RB plan work like charm... Lewis out

Just like I predicted, RB pinned Lewis to the wall... planning to kamikaze
*
Ultimately it was LH’s own fault. He had the inside line but misjudged his braking

Great drive by SV, he deserves it.
*
Indeed. Good to see he still got it. The way he jumped CL after the safety car restart was great to see

Get ready to be blinded by Paul Ricards run off areas.

Quite shocking this circuit can have 167 different track layouts

Never liked this track

About damn time RB has a 2nd driver consistently in the top 4. Last time that happened was probably when they had Vettel and Webber in the team

Lol what happened in Catalunya has been reversed

Disastrous race for Ferrari. Must have chewed up their tyres for breakfast, lunch and dinner

Actually I feel BOT was not given a proper wingman status.  He often tries to challenge LH and did not do much of a help last night.

Looked at Sergio, how much he moved out of racing line (almost to the extend of outside track) to give the millionaire boy MV position.

Had Sergio held him for 1-2 laps, MV would not win actually tongue.gif
*
Sergio on a totally different strategy and RB clearly put MV in a position to win the race. Sergio knows his role, so no point for him to hinder his teammate's progress.

On VB though, yes he's underperforming this year but yesterday's race result wasn't due to his performance.

VB is actually the perfect wingman as he is fast enough to trouble other teams and help win constructor but just not consistent enough to challenge LH. However this year in Imola and Baku he was too far off the pace.
*
Maybe he really knows that he's being replaced by GR already for next year. No smoke without fire right? brows.gif

Funny thing was that he wasn’t expecting a penalty. Lol

Looking at the replay, it looked pretty dangerous. Quite a lot of people in the pit lane at that time. So yeah, a penalty in this instance is not harsh especially when he admitted he was experimenting something new

Pretty likely RB and MV gonna be on the front foot again this coming weekend. If Mercs can turn it around at Silverstone and Hungaroring before the summer break then it should be a very interesting 2nd half of the year.

So far Mercs was strong in Portimao and Catalunya which have fast flowing corners. Silverstone got many of such corners too. The other tracks where RB was faster have a lot of stop and go or tighter corners.
*
Imagine if RB wins at Silverstone and Spa...that won't bode well for Mercedes at all. Haha

Disastrous quali for Ferrari. Maybe their race pace is better similar to last week

Well done to Russell. Q3 in a Williams. Impressive

Yes, it's an easy call, very clumsy of him of the team.
*
Not entirely his fault though. Team informed him very late on the radio that Alonso was approaching. And some shared video of the car trackers on track. Bottas, a few cars ahead of Vettel, was well behind Russell on track but started accelerating out of turn 9 so late to start his hot lap and affecting the 2 or 3 cars behind him

But of course a penalty had to be handed out anyway and unfortunately Vettel was the one

At least Alfa and Alpine got ex world champions to show. What about HAAS? The 2 drivers are so consistent over the season.
Consistent being the LAST TOP 5 that is!!

Bloody waste of resources and time. At least last season got hope with Grosjean. Magnussen was also not too bad. Whereas these 2 jokers are really doh.gif

1 driver comes with sponsorship money, 1 driver because of Ferrari connection. What else to say?

Thought it was just really hard racing from both drivers. Both didn't want to back off into the corner and both expected the other to yield.

In hindsight, Max should have slightly backed off and not risk it considering he had a hefty lead in the championship and his RB could have easily challenged for the race win anyway

Quite encouraging though to see Ferrari race pace is pretty good in such track. Unfortunately CS I think is rather disappointing, cannot even overtake DR despite hanging for so long in the DRS zone behind.

Good also to see Alpine closing up a bit to a 3 way fight again with AT and AM, thx to great race craft by Alonso.
*
To be fair to CS, I think McLaren still has a faster car down the straights so despite having the luxury of DRS, he just couldn't get past DR. Either that or CS race craft needs to be refined to find other ways to overtake. Haha

MV's and RB's reactions from the collision are so whiny. They should just move on and focus and also still leading both standings. Shit happens in F1, they should get used to it by now.
