The team needs a new perspective on the car. Vettel has experience with different engines and teams and winning. Perez has been there too long and they haven't really significantly stepped up. You can say Perez brings a lot of sponsors with him but I don't doubt Vettel has his own set of sponsors too. Besides, having a 4 time champ probably can help sell more Aston Martin road cars than a could have been guy. Mexico is where you'd build the car but Germany is where you sell it.

QUOTE(RalphRatedR @ Jul 19 2020, 06:24 PM) Even when Schumi Jr have a decent race (2 podiums this weekend), he's always overshadowed by something else. Yesterday, his teammate won with alternate strategy, today it's botched pitstop. His dad isn't really that good, just a lot of good luck, strong team and evil deeds. Not like he can be as good as his dad (a ridiculously high bar) but his luck is just hindering his true potential. |

I also don't understand. As far as I can see, he has done a pretty solid job. 1st race not his fault. His results so far not that bad. Not expecting him to overshadow Max but compared to the other guys, Kyvat, Gasly etc he hasn't done any stupid mistakes. |

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Jul 29 2020, 07:17 PM) I think modern circuits design have to be safe thus they always end up with banking which helps with grip. Whereas older circuits tend to rely more on aero and mechanical grip with their flat surface during cornering. Paul Ricard Circuit is the most flat modern circuit that I know of. Personally I think it's one of the most boring ones, I really hate the circuit. LOL |

QUOTE(4WD_er @ Jul 30 2020, 08:46 AM) Ha, NR (at his best) is only slightly better VB (current moment). He had to resist from having sex with wife to beat LH in 2016, and he need LH to have bad luck with DNF to achieve that. So, no respect to him actually QUOTE(6UE5T @ Jul 30 2020, 09:34 AM) Hmm technically maybe his driving skill is not that much better than VB but the fact that he had the mind power and dedication to sacrifice everything else and endure the physiological battle with LH to win deserves a credit. IMHO overcoming skill deficiency with physiological strength is even more difficult. Yes LH had 1 more DNF than NR but he was not performing well and genuinely beaten in many races by NR too. NR if not mistaken also suffered some technical issues and controversial penalties in some races. To me the fact that he did achieve something that almost nobody ever done (only JB was the only other) which was to beat LH in equal cars deserves his credit there. I think he is a pretty good driver. Only he doesn't handle pressure very well(but then again LH alway cry and complain too much when something goes wrong |

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Jul 30 2020, 11:01 AM) To be honest I was underestimating him earlier and thought he will never able to win it all, so he proved me and I guess many people wrong even just for once! His main weakness is wheel-to-wheel combat, not precise and as cunning as LH. LH has a way to battle hard without looking too obviously blatant to push people out hence avoiding penalties, and that's what NR cannot do well. Seb is also like that, cannot battle hard cleanly. Those who I think are excellent in close combat are LH, FA, KR, and MV. The word I was looking for is gentleman driver. His years with MS though I don't consider that much since MS was already downhill. |

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Jul 31 2020, 11:23 AM) Meanwhile getting tired of LH whiny behaviour to force others to take a knee every race! Who the hell he thinks he is to have the right to demand that? Has he actually done anything more concrete to fight for his cause, like Michael Jordan for example?? Seems like all he does is whinging on the media but not doing anything else much! Yeah, I agree, should not drag the whole organisation into it. Taking the knee(especially making people do it) is quite inappropriate to me. Everyone can support but let them show in their own way. Like you said, he should do something concrete to fight his cause, maybe get the team to hire black mechanics, sponsor black drivers or open a race driving academy in Africa. So many things he can do besides whining like a child. |

Surely must be some kind of penalty driving with 3 wheels! Where to protest?

On a side note, I really thought F1 teams would have come out with a portable oxygen helmet of some sort, or some kind of special mask for the crew. In fact this is what they should have focused on instead of rascism issue. If they did something like that, they probably can sell a lot to the public.
Instead, teams like Williams still use the regular face mask like we all use. |

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Aug 4 2020, 04:17 PM) LH himself miss the mark about the racism issue as he only focuses on blacks. Racism is broader than just impacting black people. So it's ironic that he is so vocal about it yet he himself doesn't show the full understanding of what the real issue about. You can see the less funded teams just use the normal masks while the rich teams use custom more sophisticated looking masks that matches their team uniforms. Lol QUOTE(sphiroth @ Aug 4 2020, 04:49 PM) I mean F1(and other Motosports) should advocate the use of masks and take it to another level, if they can develop a good working breathing apparatus, why not, can be used in other industries. Eventually mass producing will reduce the price too. |
