Not happening laugh.gif doh.gif

Not surprised when alonso finally joins CART racing in US laugh.gif rclxms.gif

Yeah wishful thinking...
You guys should watch that race, very good racing.

Not sure where Alonso will go next year, seems like he really wont stay this time. It's pity, wasted talent in F1. If he really goes to Indy then I'll try follow Indy races.

good, so Ferrari can maximize their potential using "Ferrari-spec" tyre, while Mercedes-spec tyre limited to 3 circuits only this season.
Ferrari gonna dominate this season bar 3 circuits, haha. flex.gif

If I'm 'Ferrari' i would develop more on normal tyres than waste time for another 2 circuit performance.
*
Based on the post race test in Barcelona, Seb conceded though that Ferrari would have been even worse if using normal spec tires.

this futuristic FE car is nicer than futuristic F1 car surely! laugh.gif  rclxms.gif

lastly Alonso vs Hamilton in McLaren still the best track battles ever. hahahaha!

Naah I don't like FE, the wheels are skinny like bikes wheels and the sound is like sewing machine!

I miss those screaming NA engines from F1, how glorious they sounded!

FP3, Max crashed again. Don't know how long RB can put up with him.
*
Exact same crash as Kimi in the Ferrari a few years back.

Anyway, great pole by Ric. Judging by RB domination of the FPs and his qualifying, it should be his race to loose only.

actually i found today's race those car unable to tailgate closely. gone are the days when those cars queuing right on the tail within 0.3s like train and stick on the corners if one car slow in front. nowdays the tailgating gap about 1s unless your car is really fast to make overtaking.

also the top speed at the tunnel lesser than 300kph? i remember those days 305-315kph seems to be norm...
*
Not really, in Monaco rarely they top over 300. Especially the current cars has a lot more downforce and grip now, that's why they can set much faster lap times but top speed remains. Remember the cars are much wider with wider tires too hence also more aero drag.

Got, those days Kimi clocked 311 something I remember, hence very easy to overtake after exiting the tunnel...
*
I don't think they reach that high top speed in Monaco ever. It was also never even easy to overtake in Monaco.

Cars are too complicated to have a fun race, even now I think indycar got better looking cars..simple not much aero drivers make the difference
*
Next year they will simplify the aero package especially at the front & rear wing. Estimated 2019 cars will be like 1.5secs slower.

Btw speaking of Indy, the 500 is just also won by an Australian (Will Power) so it has been a historic race weekend for the Australians!

Hopefully much more interesting race coming up coz the qualifying lap times were pretty close between the 3 teams with the top 3 are also from 3 teams. Hoping to see Ham fails to reach the podium this time so the points standing can get much closer.

Sigh another boring race despite the seemingly close battle for qualifying. Well at least championship standing now becomes very tight between Seb and Ham, that's the only good thing from this race!

Yeah Leclerc really showing good performance, dragging that lowly Sauber to the points. But not sure if he is really ready to replace Kimi coz partnering with Seb might crush him, just like Vandoorne case with Alonso. Kimi on the other hand just doesn't seem to care anymore. If Seb later manages to win the title but Ferrari loose the constructor then it will be on Kimi.

Instead of Leclerc, I'd prefer Ric to move to Ferrari. He should be able to give a better fight to Seb. Maybe Leclerc moves up to Haas first to replace Grosjean and gain more experience there before moving up to the big teams. As for Grosjean, naah don't really care much about him, maybe just takes the Sauber seat from Leclerc! laugh.gif

IMO Vandoorne are actually catching up to alonso, the self proclaimed 9.5/10 driver...haha
I think ferrari main concern now is to keep Vettel happy. Therefore, Vettel have a say in who will be his teammates...and i don't think he wants Ric.
*
Vandoorne so far has been a disappointment but not too surprising as he goes up against Alonso. He can claim all he wants that he's close to Alonso but the fact is Alonso has been crushing him consistently.

Yup Seb might be apprehensive about Ric as Ric had beaten him before in RB which up to this day still the only team mate who has done so. However if Ferrari still looses out the constructor while Seb manages to win the title, then surely they would have a look at the weak links and that would expose Kimi. For the team, constructor title is equally important if not more. In this last race Kimi finished over 1 pit stop away from Seb which is a very long way back, so that is a glaring lack of pace from what many still regard as the best car on the grid or at least equal to Mercs.

I think the engine and PU limit is stupid, it arguably keep the cost down (might be the opposite though since making thing that last is more expensive) but make driver do 'just enough' not pushing and attacking at the latter stage to conserve the engine.
*
It's been ironic that F1 wants to cut costs, yet it uses such complicated and expensive engine formula and keeps changing the rule which requires more development costs.

kimi no doubt disappointing, unless kimi can step up cant see what logic ferrari keep kimi next year

this weekend le mans, nando and button in the same race..thats something to watch
*
And as everyone might have noticed, for don't know how many races already, Kimi has never been able to gain a position on the start and again lost a place rather easily, this time to Ric. It seems he is playing it too safe these days. In the olden days, he was clean and able to balance that with good aggression for brave overtaking or wheel-to-wheel combat. Nowadays, he is just safe but not much aggression anymore.

yeah, kimi seem to be making mistakes at the time it matters most

its tough for ferrari and vettel to win the championship if kimi can't challenge mercedes taking points off them
*
Yes especially since Bottas is performing better too. It's really time for Kimi to retire already. His best chance to win was Monaco last year and of all places where pole position means the most, he still failed! Put Ric on the red car and we should have more interesting battles (assuming RB is still slightly behind like now). I wish Alonso can return to Ferrari or at least join RB, sigh...so wasted talent. McLaren is really rubbish now and keep going down to join Williams.
