ok - first thing is to NOT worry about using P&S camera. smile.gif

many great shots are done on P&S cameras.

so anyway,

ceiling art could use some alignment. you can adjust the contrast and such to make it more vibrant.

as for shots of things behind glass, you have to be careful of your angle and lighting. in this case, it's pointless to shoot cos the lights reflect the background more than the subject.

keep trying.

the pictures on the latter post looks nicer. smile.gif especially the last picture and the 3rd last picture.

i find the hanging orchid would be nicer if you can macro shot it so that the background is blurred. biggrin.gif

alternatively, what you can do is instead of resizing the ENTIRE picture you can just crop the nice portion of the picture and frame it based on Rule of Third. biggrin.gif then of course, you can do sharpen / contrast adjustment to make it nicer.

ok another thing - since your pictures are pretty small. you can have 2 pictures per line. did you know that? smile.gif

just put the IMG tagged codes 2 per line instead of 1 per line. just like in my gallery. lesser scrolling.

or you can pack it up as many as you want per line blablablabla. lesser scrolling.

btw i like the trail and the park bench.

i hav to learn how to compose...
i think photographer like a chef...
chef know the amount of each mix...photographer know the amount of light...
chef have to calculate time...photographer have to choose correct time...
how chef create a dish is how we compose a picture... thumbup.gif tongue.gif

got quite a few difference
- chef decide ingredients and has his own time to create a dish and decorate it.

photographers on the other hand depend on what you're shooting.

some photography, you have all the time in your hands to compose.
some you have to plan WHEN to be around (like waking up 6am to go to a nearby park)
then there's luck issue (reach the park, no sunlight. rain, clouds)
then for stuff like event photography, you need to anticipate possible upcoming events blablablabla

niiiiiiccceee. i like the sunset shots. i like the colors of the moment.

no samples that were done using portrait ah? cos if you done it in portrait, you could even capture from the beauty of the sky down to the wonder of the waves.

as for the street shots, i'm glad to see you're trying out something (that i've not yet tried myself) and you're getting there.

the first street shot is blur, i suppose you're hand-holding it. use a tripod because your shutter speed is slower at this point.

and when using tripod, sometimes it could wobble shake too when you press the shoot button and release. so what i usually do is use a timer, so i focus then shoot. then leave it there and hold still the tripod if i have too.

also be careful of other light sources and play around with the white-balance setting to see if you can achieve better result.

good job!!!

oh yeah i like the timing for that dive.

now a few things about your shots

1. try to crop using proper ratios. 6x4 or 4x6, or for me i go by 4x3 or 3x4 ratio.

2. try to the horizon go as close to a horizontal line as possible. pictures #3 and #4 need that. smile.gif

Hard to take picture using dicapac...
Problem:

2- Cant view the LCD (glance)
3- Cant view the viewfinder (u will c the dicapac lens head)

For your underwater pictures you have too much space between you and your subject and thats bad. When using flash underwater more water between you and your subject cause backscatter like picture no. 14. In redang try to take macro shots on the nudibranches(slug things) and practice to shoot on the fishes eye(nemo best) brows.gif .

Also as your go deeper in the sea you lose alot of red in the pictures so when your PP add red than the picture would look much more better..thats a reason why the blue is so strong

Btw, you going in July for the photo shoot out n seminar?

I took the attached photo in redang using resort camera sweat.gif .(click for clearer view)

For you redang trip, I like the action you captured in the first pic. However, the blue colour in pic 1 & 2 are too overwhelming. Even the boat also turns blue colour. Just doesn't look right. unsure.gif

Pic 3 appeals to me coz you caught the person diving at the right time. Nice!

This is the first time I come across underwater pics in LYN. Although the pictures are blur, but it's something different and really got my attention. biggrin.gif

I like your 2nd and 3rd pic of the old cinema... When I saw the 3rd pic I felt a tinge of sadness. It's so contrasting as it says "today" when you know, it's already in the past. You did bring out the mood of how the era of big cinemas is long gone. And that we can only look back and reminisce the times we used to frequent these places. I'm sure you know how I feel if you've been to these cinemas before.
