for taking still picture, OIS is great to have but not crucial, you can still get sharp pic at 1/4 SS easily without OIS.
but if you take lots of video, then OIS is a must, you should buy lumix if vid is more important than still pic to you.
sometime usable ISO with low noise works better thant IS

f 31 got a 'picture stabilizing' mode on the dial...equivalent to IS/VR?
nope. picture stabilizing means the camera will auto adjust the iso to 1600 or 3200 for u

Ooo~so i think the image stabilization function quite important to me. well, i will try to compare both Ixus 800is or fujifilm finepix F30 by catching still pic and video (with auto mode)before i buy the camera in shop.
But, i heard that lumix got noisy pic problem, izit? really?

or got any good compact camera model in lumix series...? intro abit ,k?...actually before that i also consider TZ3 becoz powerful optical zoom compact camera...BUT, over budget!~
yaya~ jz notice that got a " antiblurr" mode on the dial from the review of F31...but i not sure that really can function well coz in fact F31 or F30 really dun hv image stabilization

...anyhow, i will try to ask and find the answer out!thz
so when u wanna try my f31?
