Today when I was taking pictures at shopping mall fashion show, i was stopped by a security and claimed that the mall management not allow public to take pictures.

I proceed to ask the management representative, she told me this is because management afraid the photographer misuse of the pictures and for other business purpose....

Come On... this is a public event, anyone has experienced this before?

Yes.
Once in MidV, the organizer's staff stopped me.
I told him it's a public event at a public place.
But then his reply was, they notified the mall's management about it.
And they allow photo shooting using P&S, but not prosumer & SLR.

like that oso can....?

What the heck of the reason!!! This is stopping photographer to pick up skills....

not only in our country, in US, UK Aus alot of ppl face the same situation.

thats why you need fuji fxx series, its a perfect spy camera indoor without flash.

msia in many ways is easier to take public pictures. i got stopped once taking a photo of a shopping mall from outside! though, it was prolly cause i set up a tripod with a huge cam on it

I have been stopped to take pics by security guard many many times...the worst experience is when The Curve just opened not long ago...i go with my other 2 frens to hv random shoot in the mall, cos we are architecture lover and of course photography lover too. I'm just using a PNS camera while my fren is using DSLR, we are stopped by the security guard...not only that, the stupid idiot guard ask other 5 guards to follow us..whenerver we walk they follow us. I'm sure many of u dont belive, i myself also cant accept this situation, but it is really really true...probably the mall just open and the guard has nothing to do
When we walk out from the mall, walk into the food junction, we again start taking pics, again the guard stop us...and do u know wat the security guard told me....'' U have a very bad hobby'' ...i really feel like wanna slap that guard....and i'm so regret as i didnt tell him that '' u have a very bad and cheap job''

actually i dont blame them frm stopping u.nowadays got alot of idiots who like 2 take pictures of every fcuking thing n posting on net..etc...hehehe.

i got stopped from taking personal picture of my daughter inside the wangsa maju jusco ( not the deparmental section, but outside those corridors along those individual shops area ).

certainly very pariah experience.
I dont have any problem taking personal pictures in midvalley or other shopping complexes.

At midvalley i have taken events pics with my camera and videocam too.
And some friends from lensa malaysia also no prob taking pics with their powderful camera too...

I guess it depends on the place and time. I got simply shoot around Alamanda Putrajaya once and no one seems to bother.

I was stopped by some security guard outside the curve when i was shooting for fun. he claimed that the management ordered him to do so for some bla bla bla reasons, the 1 thing i remembered that is he said the management is afraid that someone might steal the "design"... like... omg? when i looked at the view that i wanted to snap a pic, all i can see is a straight line, building half, sky half

they are just doing their jobs

so give them a break rich-kids-who-dont-know-what-is-work-or-responsibilities

and giving immature negative response to the guards are bad also

can, only the center court when there are tanglungs , xmas trees , atap house , beads on the floor, flags........being exhibited , yes, u can now , SHOOT...

I have been stop from taking pic at the atrium b4...but dunno why, sometimes can sometimes cannot

Sometimes, small shops selling nice decorative stuff. Maybe they don't want you to get the idea without buying it. They will think you take a picture then go create your own (maybe better than theirs) and sell it.

the signboard is inside the curve, but outside i do not see any.

i've went around snapping at The Curve and Ikano PC and no problem.

huiyo...talking bout terrorist, i think the Gurney Plaza's security guard think that i'm a terrorist.

there is 1 time, i want to use stair to go down the second floor instead of escalator. The stair of Gurney Plaza actually quite hidden. By first, i want to use the stair, but i saw the stair like lead to no way, and i scare that the door cannot open when i reach the second floor, u know la those ''fire door'' ( i dunno i call it correctly or not) can be open from outside but not inside.Therefore i walk out from the hidden corner, where the stair is there. A security guard saw me walk out from there, he quickly stop me and asked me did i put something at the stair, i say NO. then he walk in to c...OMG...he think wat?? i'm a terrorsit?? Put BOM??? then he told me cannot use stair must use escalator??? I really wonder if they really scare of ppl using the stair might as well dont built it...Ngong Kui!!

And do i look like a terrorist?? Just look at my avatar...a terrorist look like that??

during that time...i dont have many and such tricky ideas to tease the guard ..i'm just keep walking with my frens. since the guard say cannot take pics..mana tau he go and ask even more gurads to follow us..

But since i got the esperience now, hehehe..watch out those guards...will kena them

actually they also doing their job only la...but in my opinion, sometimes they shouldn't treat ppl badly, or talk to us roughly.. since we are photography lover, what we c, we wanna snap it then share it, they really dunno wat a photographer feeling. I dont mind if they stop me from taking pic, but at least inform me in a proper way, not ''u have a bad hobby''!!!!@@@

yeah right..photography is a really good hobby..u know what..my gf also get jelous on me everytime i shoot public pic..she said i try to take some gurl pic in transparent way..
