a lot of people went back and watch some old movies which were considered good and groundbreaking back in their days, and find them just meh or totally unwatchable by today's standard. for example, lately some people think 1982 version of Blade Runner is a horrible movie while giving high praise to this year Blade Runner. so which old movies that you have watched and still find it good?

here i kasi some examples of old movies which were famous before

Dune
The Thing
Tron
Moonraker
Towering Inferno
Jaws
Star Wars A New Hope
Star Trek The Voyage Home
Die Hard
Alien (the first one)
Robocop

I just watched it last week and really understood why everyone around me kept recommending it, it was a freaking good movie!

I’m also starting to appreciate older films now. 80s-90s stuff..

The Shawshank Redemption
Dead Poet’s Society
Good Will Hunting
Blade Runner
The Breakfast Club
Robocop
Pulp Fiction

Yep, I like his films.

I wanted to add Ferris Bueller in the list too but it’s more of a comedy than a drama.

How old is old mang, please define. I think these are some genre-defining all-timers... certainly they're MY favourites:

Gladiator
Aliens
Pulp Fiction
Lion King
Star Wars Empire Strikes Back
Batman Begins
Iron Man (okay, kind of old, yeah? laugh.gif )

Others:

Good Will Hunting
Ghostbusters
Grease
Phantom of the Opera

Comedies, Hot Shots 1 & 2 I'm sure ktards know, but I wonder if ktards know of:

History of the World
Blazing Saddles
Robin Hood Men In Tights
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Monty Python

4W & F is an English feel-good B-lister laugh.gif but these other 2 are unbeatable - IMHO no war movie or jail movie come close to them until now

It had a relatively low budget yes, but I wouldn't call a film with 2 Academy Award nominations, multiple other award wins, and being in the Top 100 British Films a 'B-lister'.

Oh its certainly on my top list rclxms.gif but somehow it has the feel of a cult classic rather than a blockbuster...

...maybe cause Andie McDowell (IIRC?) and Hugh Grant careers kinda like went nowhere afterwards laugh.gif

The original one with Lawrence Olivier, the 2005 one with Keira Knightly , BBC has 2 miniseries version, one made in 1980 and one in 1995. You should check up the 1995 version starring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth

I don't know how old we're talking here but my favourite silent films are Nosferatu (1922) and Metropolis (1927).

Ehehehe, love the gun kata scenes in the film, although they are less realistic compared to those in John Wick.

My BF and I just watched Serpico and Dog Day Afternoon. Really good movies, Al-Pacino classics.
I can also watch Scarface over and over and would willingly rewatch Taxi Driver.
More movies I can my BF and I rewatched - Leon, Silence of The Lambs and old spaghetti westerns.
