hi guys, i would like to ask about Hepatitis B issue.

So few days ago, my bro went to medical checkup and doctor told him that he have totally zero 0 antibodies of Hepatitis B in himself.

so he going to get the vaccination done. dry.gif

I not sure whether i have this vaccination during my younger ages doh.gif

Is that can straight away go for the Hepatitis B vaccination along with my bro or better to have blood test first?

What is the causes of Hepatitis B? Failure of treatment lead to? i saw people always relate this disease to seafood, dirty water intake icon_question.gif

thanks notworthy.gif

blood test first.

because if you have sufficient level, then it is a waste of money and vaccine
because if you have some antibody but insufficient, just need a booster dose.
but if you have zero level of antibody, will need 3 jab, one at 0, one at 1 month after, one at 6 months after.

as for the rest, google it.

Had my vaccine last year but found out body is non-reactive during this year annual check-up. Still thinking if I want to go for another attempt.

caused by hepB virus.... failure to treat leads to liver damage, cirrhosis of liver.... and could turn into liver cancer.... nuthin to do with seafood or water.... it's transmitted through unprotected sex with a hep B carrier/pt, blood transfer(sharing needle) or infected mother to unborn child....

The one which is transmitted through contaminated food and water is Hepatitis A.

Hepatitis B is transmitted via blood and bodily fluid.

If you are not sure, take a blood test first to know your level of antibodies.

Just had my booster dose last day.

Go do bloodtest 1st, i suggest. If >0, then just pump booster, which cost 50 or more.

If >100, then ok. U r good to go.

If = 0, then too bad. U need to restart the vaccine dose, which is 3 dose in given period of time frame.

My doctor told me usually, if u r younger then 30 yrs old, we already has vaccine within us which planted by doctor when we were infant.

But to Ease your worry, go do blood test.

I had my 3 jabs done when I was a newborn, but when i did my blood test it showed my antibodies were "non reactive " and was advised to redo all 3 jabs.

When i asked the doctor he said the immunity "may wear off in some people"

He also said each jab should be done as close as possible to the same date, e.g 20/1, 20/2, 20/8. If miss by around 1 week then the vaccine wont be effective...

Got such things?

scarlion,
refer to DrBarbarian above.
Get antibodies levels first, u gotta know HBsAg lels, Anti-HBe etc first

HBV infection is endemic in malaysia and its very sad that awareness of it is low.
Hope u already get vaccinated
good luck

false.
need 3 jab to build back up the antibodies.
booster is for those with some antibodies but inadequate for protection.

You are right. I still have some antibodies left so one booster is enough for me
