Silencer would you do me the honour of adding me to the list of 3ROD with error code 0102. I've sent it to Djinn today and he'll get back to me ASAP.

Anyhow I just realized one thing that no matter how well ventilated and cool yoiu keep your 360 it only serves to prolong the inevitable 3ROD. This is because I kept my 360 very well ventilated with 2 fans on it constantly but it still got the 3ROD. So it lasted my 1yr and 3 months.

Summary, get the x-clamp solution if your warranty has expired to prevent the inevitable.

I dont really know the answer to acougan's questions as I have no knowledge of the hardware intricacies of my x360. Sorry.

Also the machine is with Djinn now so can't really inspect it.

Very good read. The fact is what can we 360 users do now? Especially if we have already undergone the x clamp replacement method as inferring from the article even after the x clamp method it is inevitable the 360 would still overheat in the long run. Guru tot31 would you be as so kind to point us in the right direction.

Is there a guide available for some of us to try the 12V mod?

Master tot31, I have no skills whatsoever in soldering. However I guess the better question is how much would you charge if we would like you to do this mod for us?

Good news, error 0102 has been fixed by Djinn and by the date stamp on his pm he must've worked late into the wee hours of morning (the stamp date was 5.30am).

Now he's just adding some extra modifications to avoid future 3 ROD i.e 12V and aluminium foil mod.

I told him he can add some spoilers to while he's at it. Hehe

Can't wait to collect my system back.

I finally got my 360 back from repairs today. Djinn has managed to revive it from 3 ROD error code 0102. Took it back home and plugged it in and it started as normal. However it kept overheating after 5 mins resulting in 2ROD sigh. Now waiting to do more mods to help with the cooling.

the screws still loose... try tight it up.

I dont trust myself with doing those repairs even if its just to tighten screw. I dont want to make things worst. I'm gonna get a pro to do it i.e. someone on the forums hopefully.

Added on September 17, 2007, 4:26 pmToday marks a very sad day for me as I have to put to rest my console. Its unfortunate but I guess I am the first casualty to give in to the 0102 error code. Its been fun knowing all you guys....hopefully i shall be back someday.

Just for the record my console was not modded, I have been a staunch observer of original products and have been xbox live gold member since launch.

Anyhow the next time I purchase a new 360 is it advisable to do the fan mod or xclamp mod immediately?

I should post a picture of the result of the colobarative ideas between Reza and me to keep my 360 functioning. Cause if you guys see it now it would be hilarious. There are holes on the back and on the side with a stand fan on the side while the xbox sits on a metal cake tin.

Wait let me get my digital camera back and i'll show you guys. Sigh.... the things Microsoft makes us do....

Reza what do you think? Hehehe

Here is the latest setup that ensure efficient cooling for those who don't have their xbox 360's in air conditioned rooms. Just to remind those out there that xclamp, 12v mod and NOS mod was already done on my machine.

Here the image is not that clear but Reza has cut the whole back portion to ensure efficient air flow.
user posted image

Here you see that the side portion is also cut so the stand fan can blow right through the whole machine.
user posted image

Lastly the stand fan and cake tin!!!! As you can see the cake tin absorbs heat from the bottom and is cooled overall the fan. Hey you got to do what you got to do.
