ANOTHER GREAT NEWS! I KENA 3ROD! GRRRRRRR... thank god still under warranty.

Just for the record, I bought mine on 2 December 06.
3ROD date: 17 May. lol not even 1 year.

On a side note, I have not been playing the 360 as much as I used to... for about 1 month. (like everyday, at least 4 hours). Maybe djinn's research is true after all. (i.e. many who got the 3rod seldom play their 360)

...or it's just a coincidence.

2,3 days is bearable.. hehehe.


oh and... there are some contents on my hdd that can only be played on 1 console (according to microsoft's t&c) such as those Oblivion add-ons. How do I get these to work on a replacement console? I've read about it somewhere but I can't recall.

I believe they didn't know about it in the first place. When they did find out though, they probably figured "wtf it would be troublesome to recall all the 360s and fix this problem plus our sales will be affected so we'll just feign ignorance" or something like that.

Hmm.. will they ever admit that the xclamp is a major design flaw?

They didn't test their beta unit or whatever long enough I guess?
I mean it takes quite a while for the xclamp to give in..

I got my new 360 from GH already! August batch. The one that I sent in was either June or July.

Now the drive is much more quieter... no more 'braking/scratching' sound when I exit to the dashboard when playing a game! And it doesn't sound like it's struggling when loading games like Oblivion and Dead Rising. IIRC Siebel experience something similar.

I guess my dvd drive was faulty all along! Goodbye DRE!

The only unusual thing is the power connector. It's kinda tight, it doesn't snap-in nicely.

Why do you guys insist on using Artic Silver, when others will suffice?
e.g. Artic Ceramique which is cheaper and in at least one test done by some hardware site (either tom's or anandtech, someone posted the link in the hardware section last time), better than AS.
