my 360 got 3rod about a month ago.sent it the shop because I'm too lazy to fix it by myself and got charged rm250 which is quite expensive.I don't know what the hell that they do with it as they said they gonna "repair" the mobo.Unfortunately,after an hour playing(after being serviced),it happened again.I was so pissed off and sent it to the shop again coz they said got 1 month warranty.They fixed it this time but sadly,it lasted for about mere 1 month only and it 3rod again.I was so mega pissed off by this microsuck console,this console is very good in terms of performance,games,etc but very poor in reliability.Lastly I decided to do a cincai repair to it by strapping a pc graphic cooler(zalman vf700 series) on the gpu heatsink and gues what,it lives just fine till now .The dvdrom sits outside and on top of the casing.If I got time,maybe I'll remove the default gpu heatsink and fixed the pc graphic card heatsink directly onto the gpu instead.Now my 360 looks just like its cousin the original xbox with dvdrom on top of the casing.

Here's the picture of it.I got the 3rod with the 0102 error code.I did this mod along with the eraser fix.The error I used to had and it's diagnostic (maybe):

1)got artifacts(flashing textures,weird geometrical display,etc) - indicates the GPU is overheating
2)game/console freezed with red checkered patern on the screen - indicates that the CPU or GPU memory is overheating

So I try strapping the pc graphic card cooler and some additional fan for the CPU and it looks ok so far.Not sure if this will fix the overheat issues or will the legendary 3rod strikes back again.Damn microsuck,360 would be very good if it isn't because of this design flaw.

I've been using it for about 3 weeks and then it starts to kaput again...oh well.I guessed something is already on it's way out on the mobo during all this time and it's a matter of time it completely dies.should have done this earlier(on new consoles) in order to prevent the damage from spreading out.To answer your questions,I use an external pc psu to power up the extra fans.As for the dvd drive cable,i use pc sata cable.The dvd drive power cable is short but just enough to reach to the outside.

Anybody here maybe knows a cheap mobo replacement(a falcon maybe?).Does anybody here already have 360 with the falcon revision mobo?Any reports on RROD for falcon(besides the 2 red/2 green lights)?Thanks for your input.

I don't know if falcon revision 360 is already here in Malaysia.Reports says that,the new falcon 360 was sighted with the new Halo 3 SE package and the one with Forza2 & MUA game bundles.Here's a couple of things to identify the new 360:

Although the new 360 uses cooler cpu(65nm),the gpu is still the old 90nm chip.Maybe if the cpu is cooler,less heat will build up along with the gpu and hopefully will prevent hardware failure from happening.We still yet have to see whether this new model still rrod or not and only time could tell us that.Should we get this falcon model or should we wait for the upcoming jasper(65nm cpu and gpu) model in august 2008?Frankly,i can't wait that long because most hottest games(RE5,DMC4,NG2,VF5) are about to release in 2 or 3 months from now.We need a working xbox360 for at least 3 years.Mine totally died after about 11 months......damn m$,fix your stuffs or get out of the business Now I have a very expensive door stopper in my room.

yeah you're right about that.geram maaaa .I just wanted to buy another 360 but tak jadi because I'm afraid that it will kaput less than a year later or maybe shorter terms.

But seriously on hardware reliability terms,this is the worst console ever created.
