silencer, the method is not that hard at all.. the hardest part for me to make the custom heat pipe from the xtra added 12v fan to blow an cold air to the gpu..  I,m using a card box to accomplish that. I will try my best to post my picture but since I didn't have any camera with me for the moment it not possible to do so. As for the 12V fan modification I just did it the same way like the tutorial from the 1st link that you gave. 

Just to give you an an info about the custom heat pipe. most of the mod out there just add the xtra fan without the custom heat pipe.. so I think the air flow from the fan are spread all over inside the unit. The purpose of this heat pipe is to make sure all the air from the xtra 12v fan being direct to the GPU heat sink following the path below the dvdrom. Even the solution that ms try to do by adding the xtra heatsink, I'm personally think that it would not enough to draw all the heat from that monster GPU.. and I agreed with tot that this xtra fan is a must to make the heat from the GPU being blow out from the unit. and I one of the successful survivor by doing this method..

dari dulu aku cari nama benda nih.. bagus gak nama ko bagi nih.. so its officially called air duct tunnel..  Anyway mmg dulu aku guna duct tape electrical yang warna hitam/merah/biru tu, tapi at one time bila aku bukak habis melekit lekit tape tuh... lepas tu aku perasan dia dah mula merenggang mungkin sebab panas.. tu yang aku xperiment dgn tape nih.. and so far so good.

My advice bro, don't wait until it hits again, just do it. Prevention is better than cure. Same goes to any X360 than haven't been hit by 3ROD, better do all of this mods as all of X360 are like time bombs.

i played oblivion last week. yeah, old games....but my achievement is already 930GS. tend to finish this game. suddenly my x360 hang with the screeching sound. i reset it and try to boot but....3ROD. after that i put my x360 horizontally and it do not happen again. waaa. nearly make my heart jatuh. hahaha. anybody experience this after x-clamp fix?

the mother board is rosak already ...it wont show any message on tv no output display at all.

I dont trust myself with doing those repairs even if its just to tighten screw. I dont want to make things worst. I'm gonna get a pro to do it i.e. someone on the forums hopefully.

I think you should just send the console to Singapore for warranty..
Who knows, you might get back a refurbished one with extra heatsinks in it and maybe, a 65nm chip along with it

the 3ROD popped up again on my console at 4.45 just now. I left the power brick on for an hour and fired it again, yes, the console worked again. I'm so confused....it wanna die or not? Every time i look at it, it's like your 105-year-old grandma going for stroke any moment.

Every time it 3ROD, the screen shows nothing at all? What's the problem actually?

Hmm...one thing for sure is that the electric bill is paid every month. N not much apparatus are being used...so i think there's enough juice to blow the x360...sigh....the 3RODs were just so inconsistent...

Good news, will be collecting my 360 from tot31 today he has managed to fix the 2rod issue, moreover he has put additional mods on it including spoilers, 20 inch rims and more. thanks tot31.

last week i had multiple hang occasion ...since Rezalid came up with his NOS mod I decided to send mine to him...n the result is REZASPANDOLOUS ahahah he also let me to watch how he revived the console via web cam with witnessed by few ppl LIVE...so I recommend if any  one of u who have 3rod after x-clamp get your fix from Reza
