Just wanna ask all xbox360 zombie recruiter here,
What is the most effective way to cut the strips on the GPU heatsink?
*It is for the drill method of the x-clamp replacement method*

I tried using a long nose plier to rip it off but then the cutting is ugly and it has really disfigured the heatsink seriously, even though it still remain usable.

Any suggestion?

Hm.. that's a bit hardcore right. I mean i needed something like a scissors-like type of cutter..
Nevermind, i will be off to Ace Hardware to see if i can find anything to be used to cut off those strips on the heatsink & at the meantime pay GH a visit tongue.gif . Btw i just need to cut those around where the screws comes up.

The drill method proves to be so much reliable and i am thinking of solely doing the drill method for the x-clamps replacement process.
Going to try it on a post fixed console later smile.gif ... Well only if i can find the right cutter though and within an affordable budget.

@hikaru_x - You dont know how much i wish i was at Penang. If not i can have a full hardware frenzy tongue.gif smile.gif rclxm9.gif

My console kena E74 again. Yesterday kena already but can start back after that but that's no longer possible right now sad.gif
*
Its possible that its due to the pressure on the screws. This is why i hate the non-drill method. It needs recooking and worst of all, once the pressure changes slightly, the error will appear again.

If possible try to open up the console and check the screws on the mobo.

time for xclamp fix... dont worry so much still got hope

If its still under warranty, exercise the warranty. If its past the warranty period or you are desperately to get back on LIVE, go for the x-clamps replacement instead.

Could your drive be a Sammy drive?

Cause the problem usually arises from Samsung DVD drives..
The rubber band trick is one of the method which works flawlessly but i think it only works with the like i said Samsung drive.
*Please forgive any mistakes i have made*

Erm...
About the trick, it is actually quite simple. But i prefer another method rather than the rubber band trick.
In short actually there is a pin in the dvd drive that signals where the drive should stop when the tray is moving back into the drive. So the point of the rubber band trick is to tie a layer of rubber band so the extra width of the rubber band will add extra length to the pin, which makes the tray stops earlier than usual.

*sorry for the confusion*

Just just to cheer myself up...  blush.gif, how I wish this is a dream only when I woke up this morning but my xbox just show the damn 3rod.
Well, I'm not too sure about that yet but... seeing that many people have revived their xbox somehow gives me some encouragement.  wink.gif
*
Yea, i can understand how you feel bro. I mean having the symptoms surfacing, and yet it is still showing green. I bet that you feel worried more than after you hit it right..

Still i am having some problems with a post fixed console again *I always land myself in this kind of situation dealing with POST-FIXES*
So i will be working on it for the meantime while waiting the arrival of your machine biggrin.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Have some confidence bro, if you have never touch your console after the 3RoL hits, or sent it for any repair, the chances of revival is very high.

To clarify, I did not leave my console there. The console is still with me untouched. Hehehehe...

Good for you.
I am still struggling to boot up a console which has already undergone some repair done by a shop in Sg. Wang, will try to get the shop name so that those who bought their consoles from them can avoid sending it back...

Actually, it is best not to send to shops that provide a "fix" for your console. If they are to send it back to SG to claim warranty or a 1to1 exchange, then it is alright. Other than that, x-clamp replacement straight away.

Do not use the hotgun method first because the hotgun method is like pushing it to the extreme end with the heat. I would rather suggest using the x-clamps first only heatgun..

Just my opinion...
*kinda tired and a bit drunk now, plz forgive*

too much heat.. you destroy those resistor , too less it doesn't work.

And remember to patch fully the areas where you do not intend to heat with lotsa aluminium foils...

Hm.. i have experience a console which has experience the colors glitching and it turned out to an error E74 later on.
Still it can be fixed via the x-clamps replacement and this only means that it is due to the GPU/CPU chip doh.gif
Damn it M$ !!

No problem bro. I dont wanna rush things so i will give it more tests tonight. Oh btw, it has just undergone a 4 hours straight stress test with a game on. So i will let it rest for now and on it back again tonight for some guitar rocking session biggrin.gif

I will post it tomorrow so hopefully you can get it the day after tomorrow. And dont worry about the packaging, i have put full attention to opening the box so it should be alright.
*The hardest part of this operation is opening up the packaging* tongue.gif

Can i be the live audience for that video!
I wont mind providing the audio background if you want noise tongue.gif

~ Jokes aside, E74 is a random error buddy. I think it might be the ANA chip rather than the GPU/CPU chip so it cant be helped if it is like that...
