If I were you and want sharp lens with a budget of RM2k. I go for 2 lens combo with the :-

1) Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di-II LD Asp IF
2) Sigma AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG macro.

You won't go wrong there and cover most of the range. smile.gif

How much is this Tamron? Had a chance to play with the 20-70mm F2.8L while i was in US last week..loved it but its way out of my league. Looks a bit too big when attached to the 400D too. tongue.gif

I bought it a few months back for RM 2150. Pretty happy with it though its not as sharp as the 50mm F1.8. One thing for sure, its way better than that the kit lens.

Try Tamrom 17-50 f/2.8. It's very sharp.

70-200 f/4 is about RM2.7k and 50 f/1.8 is about RM400. Test the lenses at the shop to make sure they don't have focusing problem since you are from outstation.

1. The free and cheap filter normally will degrade your lens. Better spend a bit more to get the Hoya multicoated UV.

2. I would advise you to test the lens on your camera. Sometimes the lens focusing might behave differently on different camera.

3. Credit card will charge you 2% extra.. Of course it's safer than bring few thousands of cash. smile.gif
